Will
My heart pretty much stopped beating when Piper mentioned the party we were going to was being thrown by a girl from Brooklyn Tech. That's Luke's school.
Immediately after dinner, I sent him a DM.
Will: are you going to that party friday ?
I waited impatiently for a response.
Luke: yeah. heard some from goode r coming too. was gonna text u abt it
I roll over, debating my response. I could cancel on my friends and not go to avoid Luke. It could be weird, seeing him in real life after sending each other... pictures, online for months.
But then again, I wanted an excuse to get super drunk and forget about all my problems.
Will: I'll be there
Luke: cool. cu there
Will: maybe we shouldn't be seen together
Will: people might talk
He takes longer to send a reply. I scroll through my Instagram feed waiting, when the typing bubbles finally reappear.
Luke: no they won't. gonna be tons of ppl around. no one's gonna notice us
Luke: just have to be careful
Will: oh. okay. if you're sure
Luke: cu fri.
Okay, then.
When Friday finally did come around, the pressure of knowing I might end up doing something with Luke had been so overwhelming, I thought my head would explode.
When we arrived at the party, pretty much everyone split. Hazel and Frank were partners for beer pong. Piper ran over to a group of squealing girls in the middle of the dance floor. Grover found Juniper on the couch, and Nico went with Percy and Annabeth to go talk to some people I didn't recognize. That left just Jason and I.
"You wanna go get a drink?" I suggested, yelling over the loud music.
The multicolored disco lights shined over his face, going from blue to red to green. "Sure."
He followed me into the kitchen where the counter was stocked with a variety of beers, shooters, buzz balls, tequilas.
"Watch out!"
A blond girl on roller skates came wheeling through the doorway and bumped me right against the counter, her hips against mine, trapping me to my spot.
Jason leaned over her shoulder and winked at me before walking off. Great.
"Sorry," the girl giggled. She backed up off of me and held up a bottle of Jack Daniels. "Want some, cutie?"
Why the hell not? Being seen with this girl would only do me good. I needed to be seen around more girls, before people started suspecting.
She gestured for me to open my mouth, and so I did, tilting my head back a bit as she began pouring the liquid down my throat. "It's good?" She asked.
I nodded and she smirked. "Let me have a taste."
She leaned in and, before I realized what was happening, connected her lips to mine. A few people in the kitchen saw the whole exchange and let out shrieks of approval, and someone even whistled. I pulled away for a quick breath and saw in the corner of my eye Percy, Annabeth and Nico standing a few feet away. Percy caught my eye and smiled, giving me a thumbs up. I flitted my eyes over to Nico, who was already looking at me. When we realized we were making eye contact, we both looked away instantly.
