"Everyone. Everyone. We're sealing the floor. I don't know why, and it doesn't matter why, But nobody goes in or out past the double doors. You check on your own patients, and then you come back and check and see if there are any others in the queue. We don't have a lot of hands-on deck. And, people, do not alarm the makers of the tiny humans. They will eat you alive." Arizona announced to everyone on the peds floor. They just got word they were on lockdown.
"A lockdown must be serious" Miranda sighed
"I came by to see you and now I'm stuck on the peds floor" Ben looked at her
"We'll be stuck together" She held his hand "At least you'll know I'm safe"
"I really thought that was a joke"
"A sick joke," Callie remarked
"Excuse me?" Arizona looked at her
" Uh, nothing."
" What? What, you can't be stuck on the same floor as me? That's a hardship for you?"
"I believe being stuck on a floor during a lockdown is hard for anyone" Miranda tried to deescalate the situation"
She didn't want to be stuck between their bickering all day. Worse than that she didn't want to be stuck here once the panic set in and the kids lost their minds. Callie came up with an idea to put all the kids together to better monitor them due to their being more patients than staff. But again Miranda saw that leading to them bickering.
"I thought we were gonna be friends" Arizona sighed
" You want to talk about this now? We're on lockdown, moving kids, God knows what's happening, and you want to talk about this?"
"She has a point let's not" Miranda wheeled a kid passed them " For the sake of sanity"
"Well, we're stuck here and we have to be together, so, yeah, I want to talk about this" Arizona ignored Miranda's comment
"Okay, fine. I tried being friends. Rising above-I tried that, and now I'm over it. I'm gonna go the more traditional route of totally hating your guts"
"Don't work with your ex" Ben whispered to the kid
"Nicholas is my ex and he's in my science class. He never passes the tools down. I get it" The girl nodded
"How old are you" Miranda asked
"10"
"10 year olds have exes, go figure" She shrugged
"We'll have 10-year-olds someday" Ben looked at her
"We'll have teenagers someday" She looked at him
"What is going on out there" He wondered
"Just glad the kids aren't in daycare today"
They started to walk around peds as the lockdown lingered they started to worry. And as Callie and Arizona continued to bicker they really wanted to get away from them. So they did what you shouldn't do during a lockdown. They left where they were. They snuck out the doors and into the hall.
"We shouldn't be out here" Miranda whispered
"Did you want to keep listening to them" Ben replied
"We don't know why we're on lockdown. What if there's a psycho out here"
"Then let's find a place to hide" Ben nodded " But I had to get away from peds"
As they were walking Miranda had to cover her mouth to keep from screaming. Ben noticed she stopped walking and was just standing in the hallway shaking.
