As finals were just around the corner Peter found it almost impossible to pay attention in any classes. He had taken to wearing hoodies and jeans every single day. The hood always up.

He also started to sit in the back of the class, which would be deemed highly unusual for Peter.

Ned and MJ weren't stupid, they noticed to the day when Peter had started pushing them away, it started with just not meeting either afterschool.

But hey, that was few and far between the moment he went to the group home. They understood him being so busy due to working and helping around the group home.

What they couldn't understand is why a mere few months before they would graduate, did he stop hanging out with them at lunch.

Hanging out with them at all. He stopped responding to their texts, avoiding them at school entirely.

They tried multiple times to talk to him and every time he would brush them off because he was needed at the group home or had work. At some point they gave up.

Then Peter started showing up at school wearing clothes that covered every bit of skin they brushed it off, everyone gets depressed and go into a state.

Then he started wearing the hood all day, still they tried to explain it away, until one day while changing for gym (Peter would wear the winter jacket and pants to stay covered) Peter didn't realize Ned was still in the locker room.

Usually Peter would get to class late, change while everyone was filing out to the actual class and just be late.

It was better than anyone seeing the bruises. Then Ned did. He made a whole scene about it.

"Peter! What the hell!" Ned had said while grabbing Peters jacket so he couldn't shove it on.

"It's fine Ned, leave it." Peter had said.

"Is, is this from Spider-Man? I thought you barely ever got hit in those fights!" Ned said still trying to examine Peter.

"It's nothing Ned! Just forget you saw anything!" Peter started to panic, he couldn't logically explain the bruises away, not when they were fresh every single day.

"There was just this gang I took down last night, it was rough going, I'm fine." Peter said hurriedly.

"Peter..." Ned had tried to say more but Peter had snatched his jacket away and went to class.

Ned wouldn't stop staring at him all that day. Peter couldn't take it so he left school. Something he had taken to doing since things started at home with Skip.

He knew he would get it later, again, for skipping the last class of the day but he just couldn't deal with Ned's gaze on him.

Taking Skips beating was preferable to Ned questioning him and possibly making him break and tell him the truth. With said knowledge knowing Ned would go straight to Child Services about it.

Peter walked the streets of New York like he had his entire life, he was tempted to go to the cemetery, but he felt today wasn't a good day for it.

He instead just walked, for hours, no destination in mind, aimlessly.

Eventually he once again found himself near Avengers tower, when he had realized this he immediately took off in the opposite direction.

The Avengers were persistent people, Tony would text him constantly to the point where Peter turned off his phone most days.

When he did turn it on it was only for specific purposes, to look something up, check the news about any attacks or anything going on.

Of course if there was anything about Spider-Man. Peter hadn't quite realized but it had been almost a whole month since he last seen the Avengers.
