My name is Peter Parker, I'm also Spider-Man. You see I was bitten by a radioactive spider, I gained a fantastical power, and now I'm responsible for upholding myself. To prove I am worthy of this power and all that comes with it.

Trust me, it's not all running in to save the day. It's a world wide government agency using a team of power people to try hunt you down, it's random mercenaries popping up in your life...it's losing the people you love.

But throughout all of this I've learn an invaluable lesson, we are who we make ourselves. And hey, I made myself into Spider-Man, not bad at all. You see it all started when I was 15...but we aren't starting from the very beginning.

For this story, we start on a random Tuesday when I was 17. This, well this is going to be fun...

Peter heard his alarm blaring next to his head, he sat up with a sharpness, looking to his left and realizing he was late. Oh he was so late.

Peter threw on the nearest clean, well cleanest, clothes and run out of his small room. Stumbling down the stairs as quick as he could, throwing open the fridge and grabbing the first thing his hand shot out for. An apple.

You see Peter lived in a children's home, with the headmistress, Ms. Bea. She worked at a small hospital as a nurse, the government doesn't really give enough of a benefit to actually feed and take care of all the kids so Ms. Bea worked hard and as often as she could. Taking double and triple shifts as often as allowed.

Every extra cent mattered in the home, Peter even worked part-time at Mr. Delmar's to try bring in as much as he could to help. He knew he ate a lot more than a regular teen due to his mutation, so he worked hard to diminish the burden he brought as much as he could.

Peter ran out of the house, tossing the half eaten apple into the garbage as he ran by it and caught the city bus just in time. The bus seemed to go as slow as it could, stopping at every single stop along the way.

Eventually Peter jumped off the bus and ran straight towards the school, dodging kids in the hall and through the doorway and the bell rung just as he sat in his seat huffing. Ned looked over at him with a knowing look of, you made it just in time. Peter half smiled back.

He hadn't been speaking to Ned or MJ a lot at that point, Peter thought it would be better to keep them at a distance ever since she...well he had started when he lost his aunt and went to the children's home over a year before hand.

It wasn't the easiest thing, to dodge your best friends, but Peter did it to protect them. Or at least that's how he rationalized it. At first they tried everything to hangout with him and keep their friendship alive, Peter shut it down every time.

He cited Spider-Man duties to Ned and studying for college to MJ. Of course she didn't believe him, but he explained it away with being in the children's home and how the only way he would ever go to college would be with a scholarship. A full ride. She seemed to believe him after awhile.

It wasn't entirely a lie, Peter would need a scholarship if he ever hoped to go to college. So although his studies sometimes slipped from lack of sleep and over working himself, he made sure he never let his grades slip too much. He kept a firm leash to do so. He often missed the deadlines for projects, but he made sure he almost always aced his tests and exams.

Stuck in his own head Peter barely paid any attention in class. Lunch wasn't much better, he dodged an invitation to eat with Ned, feeling horrible the whole time. The rest of the day he kept his head down, only having one more class with Ned in which he never met eyes with.

He never left the confines of his own mind, thinking of how much he'd let his friends down over the years. Soon enough the day had gotten by him and the last bell of the day rung. He made his way towards the gym for decathlon practice. The only place he couldn't dodge MJ.
