seungmin was glad that no one from the fire nation knew what he looked like. otherwise they'd be doomed. grounding bird by the lake in the forrest next to the huge city,

"jiseok would probably try to get some help from the royals" gunil said. "i know hyeongji's spirit. i met him when i was completing my spirit trial for the master position when i was ten. so it wouldn't be a problem to get inside."

jungsu and seungmin looked at each other with confusion before they decided that asking would be unnecessary. if gunil had a hunch then he should just try it out.

"but somehow the connection between the spirit and real world seems looser now... a spirit is here."

walking past a tiny hoise, they didn't get to look inside. yet that didn't matter, as they suddenly heard a screech from the inside. just a few seconds later, the door flew open and gunil fell down from the sudden impact on his body.

his vision blackened for a few seconds, hitting the floor too hard with his head, before he came back to his senses. recognizing the slim arms that hugged his body.

"jiseok!" he exclaimed enthusiastically, hugging his crying little brother tightly. eventually, two other boys got out of the hut, as well, furrowing their brows and exchanging confused glances.

yet based on the felt emotions, they figured that it must be jiseok's brother. and the two other boys with him were probably his friends, most certainly no airbenders.

jiseok and gunil then stood up, before gunil decided to hug his brother again, not quite believing that he was still alive. "they told me that you died!" was the elder's reasoning.

"i was told that i'm the only one who survived! i was pushed down from the island..." opening his eyes, gunil took a glance at the two boys that were with jiseok. and then frowned.

"hyeongjun..." the airbender muttered, releasing jiseok from his embrace as he walked towards said boy in confusion. "what.. what are you doing in this world?"

said boy sighed, looking down on the floor. "i'm a substitute for hyeongji... she died seven years ago, actually.. i never thought i'd meet you here, gunil"

all of them were confused to why hyeongjun knew his name, yet as he stepped closer to kiss gunil, it got clear for jooyeon and jiseok, who knew that it must be his soulmate.

seungmin and jungsu were even more confused, looking at each other in shock before looking back at the unfolding scene.

"that's why i felt more connected to the spirit world when we arrived here.." gunil smiled after the two pulled apart, tucking hyeongjun's hair behind his ear.

jungsu decided to act out. "yo man, what the fuck is actually happening?" they laughed, holding onto each other tight. "let's go inside and there you guys cam explain it" jooyeon then said, looking around.

"it's not safe for hyeongjun to be outside like that.."

[...]

updating them on the situation, all of them thought about how they could stop king oh. seungmin did not mention that he is his son.

jooyeon is already enraged enough about him and jungsu being from the earth kingdom; knowing, that he was sitting with the child of the murderer of his parents wouldn't end well for seungmin.

"first, we'd have to bring balance into the spirit world" hyeongjun said, holding gunil's hand underneath the desk. "when one loses its link in the spirit world, they're weakened and desperately try to find their soulmate. it doesn't matter if it means to kill.."

all of them looked at each other in shock, confusion but also commitment. they would do it.

yet there was one question. "how do we get inside, though?" jungsu dared to say the thought out loud. that was the question hyeongjun feared to answer.

"someone, who is not a spirit, will most-likely die there. it's ideal that i do this on my own, but gunil and his spirit is stronger than i am.."

this meant there had to be a volunteer. seungmin and jungsu were procrastinating. they barely even knew hyeongjun, could they trust him?

gunil wasn't allowed to come, meeting your own spirit would bring bad luck and, in most cases, death upon both of the souls.

"i'll come with you" someone suddenly said, startling everyone. it was jiseok, who looked at hyeongjun expectantly.

gunil immediately shook his head. "jiseok, no-" "do we have another option?" the younger brother interrupted.

"i just found you, i can't lose you again!" seungmin put his arm around gunil. "he'll be fine.." he muttered.

"he survived the earth kingdom's attack. i'm pretty sure he'll survive this, too" "also, i'll take care of him, gunil" hyeongjun added. "it's alright"

planting a short kiss on his lips, he used that as a way to ensure that they'll be fine. and with a sigh, gunil nodded.

"alright... i really trust you two, okay? you two are the only ones in my life right now."
