"Yes, I think you've earned the right to be my... friend."
The words still resounded in my head, not being able to completely believe I had actually accomplished it. But suddenly, the doors opened wide, letting an old man enter the room.
"Yes, I think a big round of applause is needed for our new teacher." He said. I assumed he was the Headmaster by the way he behaved. But on the contrary of what he said, nobody applauded. Both groups started at me, eyes opened wide in shock.
"She is a teacher? That's not fair!" yelled Hester.
"That's technically really unprecise." said Dovey, trying to make peace. I couldn't believe she was actually defending me after all of it. I thought those presentations might actually kill my plan of proving them both right and wrong at the same time. "She is also a student here."
"How can she be a student AND a teacher here?" asked Tedros, confused.
"She is eighteen, so she couldn't enter the School if she didn't have another role in it. She comes from lands beyond, so she doesn't know our ways, our type of magic and survival skills she'll need to live in this forest. That's why we decided to give her a spot here as a student, and also took the chance to give you a teacher with other experiences." continued Clarissa.
"And she has just proven all of us she is just what you all need." added Lesso. "She is going to be teaching Nevers How To Disguise As Good, and Evers, How To Camuflage With Evil. It's clear that you need to learn to do that, and how to identify when you are being played with." she said looking both at Tedros and Hester. "She did just show that the best Evil can disguise as Good, and how Good can look Evil for a while to make you think they are on your side, but still without breaking any rules from their own School. She didn't attack Hester first, and even showed mercy in the end."
"But which School does she actually belong to?" asked Dot. The Deans looked at each other, searching for an answer.
"She didn't come to us in a conventional way so we aren't completely sure. Lady Lesso and I have different views on the matter as she does seem to have talent for... both."
"But that is, in the end, impossible, so even if it might take a while to figure it out, don't think of this like something you ought to aspire to." said the Headmaster, looking at all of us suspiciously. "She will teach you how to act like the other group, but that doesn't mean you belong there. You must take that into consideration at all times." he warned us.
"Yes. In these two schools, we will take away any confusion and make your souls as pure as possible." continued Dovey with what appeared was her usual speech. "Pure Good."
"Or pure Evil." added Lesso stepping forward, not letting her coworker keep her behind.
"Future heroes and villains, you have been chosen to protect and maintain the balance between Good and Evil. For if that balance is ever compromised..." stated Clarissa, with fear in her eyes. I was curious as to whether what made her so uncomfortable. What would happen if the balance were to be broken?
"I don't think we need to get into that just now with our new friends, do we?" Interrupted the Headmaster. "It's such a happy first day. Let's not be downers, hm? Besides, I'm sure this new class will perform exceptionally well. And like your parents before you, you are all here because the world of stories needs great heroes and villains to teach the people of the outside world to make choices to find their way. So, obey the rules, study hard, and remember, the Storian only chooses the very best of our students for their own adventure."
"But what if we've been dropped in the wrong school?" interrupted Sophie whilst standing up.
"Or there has been a mistake, and we need to go home immediately?" added the girl my fellow Never was trying to talk to earlier. Clarissa looked concerned, but Lady Lesso seemed to be enjoying herself. After all, she was the Dean of Evil.
