Chapter 87

Danny

It has been five months since my first session and things have been going really well. "So, what did she say?"

"She said she wants to take things slow."

Pete shook his head. "She's not as smart as I thought."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"If she was smart, she would have made the decision to not forgive you."

"I promised her that it won't happen ever again."

"It doesn't matter. She shouldn't give you another chance."

"Maybe, but I can't lose her again."

"She sure didn't mean that much when you bought a ring for another woman and took the vows."

"Tina was a bitch. She is nothing compared to Valentina."

"She's making a mistake. Period."

"What are you going to do about it? Talk to her?"

"If I have to."

"You are joking, right?"

"No."

"Why would you do that?"

"Because I refuse to see another woman get her heart broken because of you."

I scowled. "You're supposed to be my best friend."

"I am. But I refuse to see her get hurt again."

Rolling my eyes, I grabbed a cup of coffee. "Go right for it. She won't change her mind."

Pete nodded. "We'll see about that, Danny."

Valentina

"What the hell are you thinking?"

"Pete? How did you get my number?"

"Don't worry about it. Why are you giving him another chance?"

"I didn't say that I would get into a relationship with him."

"Oh. He has been acting like you gave him another chance and that you were actually working things out."

"I'm allowing him to spend more time with the kids a couple of days a week."

"Well, good. That's a relief."

"I have huge trust issues with him. He messed up too many times."

"Three to be exact."

"Three? I thought it was just Katy and Tina."

"Your sister as well, remember?"

"Well, I was a part of that so I can't fully blame him."

"You can't trust him, Valentina. I've known him longer than you. He can't be trusted."

"Trust me, I agree. It will take months, even years to see if he can prove me wrong."

"Just be careful, okay?"

"I am doing my best to be careful, Pete. Thank you."

After Pete hung up, I realized that he wanted best for me as well because he does know Danny better than me. I still love him, but I have to keep my guards up.

As promised, Danny showed up on time to spend time with the kids. He is still an asshole in my eyes and mind, but he sure has a good bond with his kids. All he has to do is prove that he will actually change for good this time.

"I'm tired of guys coming and going."

Danny looked at me and smiled. "I won't ever leave you again, Val."

"I honestly don't know how long it will take for me to even slightly forgive you for all of the bullshit that you pulled."

"I will wait as long as it takes."

Suddenly, my phone rang, and I saw an unrecognized number. "Hello?"

"You little bitch! You stole my husband away from me."

"Who is this?"

"You know who this is, Valentina."

"How did you find my number?"

"I have my ways. Watch your back Valentina, because you will pay for what you did."

She hung up and I looked at Danny. "Tina just called me."

"She what?"

"She is blaming me as the cause for the split between you guys."

He shook his head. "Don't listen to her, Valentina."

"She said to watch my back."

"That's a threat she won't follow up with, so I wouldn't worry."

"Well, I am still going to watch my back."

"I won't let her hurt you or our children."

"She better not fuck with my kids, because she will regret it."

He smirked. "God, you turn me on when you're angry."

I rolled my eyes. "You shouldn't be saying that."

He stood up and grabbed my face. "Why?" He whispered in my ear. "Are you afraid that you will fuck me again? Because I sure do."
