The "lovely" first day

The camera cuts to Ruby being hugged tightly by her sister. Much to Ruby's discomfort "I can't believe my little sister is going to Beacon with me. Everyone is going to think you are the bee's knees!" Ruby groans and eventually manages to get out of her sister's grip. "I don't wanna be the bee's knees. I wanna be a normal girl with normal knees," she says, her sister looking at her confused. "You got into Beacon, aren't you excited?" Yang asks. "Of course, I'm excited Yang. I just got moved ahead two years. I don't want people to think I'm some special case." Yang sees the boy Ruby mentioned earlier and drags Ruby over to him, saying, "Hey! Aren't you the boy who helped my sister with that bad guy and also got into Beacon with her?" (Y/N) looks up from the ground, seeing the two girls approach him. "Huh? Oh, it's the cookie goblin! And?" he says, asking who the blonde is. "Oh! I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister!" (Y/N) tilts his head a bit. "You two are sisters?" Yang nods. "Half-sister, same Dad, different moms." (Y/N) nods. "Oh, ok, now I can see it. Well, I'm (Y/N) (L/N), you can call me (Y/N)." He says while shaking Yang's hand and Ruby's hand, who is blushing faintly. Meanwhile, a blonde guy runs by and empties his lunch just as a hologram of the huntress from the other night appears. "Whose that?" Yang asks. Her question is soon answered once the hologram starts speaking. "I'm Glenda Goodwitch. I'm a teacher here at Beacon, and we are proud to welcome you to our school." An "oh" is heard from Yang, but (Y/N) looks down. "Gross! Yang, you got throw up on your shoe!" (Y/N) and Ruby runs from Yang, all the while the camera pans to the school.

"Well, damn," (Y/N) says when he takes in the view of the school as Ruby obsesses over weapons. (Y/N) chuckles at her antics. Ruby worries about making friends when Yang suddenly takes off, making Ruby dizzy and causing her to fall into some girl's luggage. The girl walks up; she is wearing a white dress, her hair held in a side ponytail, and she has a rapier on her hip and white boots. "YOU ABSOLUTE FOOL!" (Y/N) helps Ruby up, though the girl is going on a rant about dust and stuff. But (Y/N) is unamused while the vial the girl was shaking starts to let out some dust. (Y/N) recognizes this bitchy attitude; this chick is a Schnee, causing him to roll his eyes at the girl while she continues her rant as Ruby sneezes, making the area explode on the three. Then a guy with dreadlocks, dark skin in a cloak, and dark armor with a shotgun on his back runs up. "Hey, are you guys ok?!" He looks at the Schnee, and it's like an arrow through the heart. At that moment, he falls for her but conceals it. "(Y/N) answers for him and Ruby, "We are fine." Weiss rolls her eyes. At that moment, a girl in a black and white outfit with a black bow on her head holds a vial. "The Schnee Dust Company, the biggest seller of dust, which makes you Weiss Schnee, heiress to the company," the girl says. Weiss throws up her hands, "FINALLY, SOME RECOGNITION!" The girl with the black bow continues, "The company is also known for its questionable business partners and labor forces." Weiss is not happy about that comment because she snatches the vial of dust from the girl. "WHY THE NERVE!" She storms off, ignoring Ruby's calls of sorry. Ruby turns to thank the girl with the bow, but she is already walking off, causing Ruby to sigh. But then the vomit boy from the ship walks up. "Rough first day?" He asks when he walks up to the three of them. When they turn to face him, (Y/N) chuckles, "A bit. Wait, aren't you the guy who threw up on the ship?" Vomit boy sighs. "My name is Jaune Arc, short, and sweet, and ladies love it." (Y/N) laughs immediately, "I'm sure they do." (Y/N) then turns to the dark-skinned male, "And you?" The male in question then snaps out of his trance. "Huh? Oh, I'm Dante Silver." (Y/N) nods. "I'm (Y/N) (L/N), but you can call me (Y/N). And the girl next to me is Ruby." Ruby then waves as they walk, talking about their weapons. Eventually, after some odd silence, "So... I got this thing," she says, unfolding Crescent Rose, stabbing it into the ground. Jaune yelps, "Woah! Is that a scythe?!" Ruby nods, "Yep. It's also a customizable, high-impact sniper rifle." Jaune looks dumbfounded, "What?" (Y/N) sighs, and Dante facepalms. "It's also a gun," Ruby says when an "oh" is heard from Jaune. Next, Dante pulls out his shotgun and knife, "I got these." He cocks the shotgun, "And the knife I can pull back to me." He demonstrates by throwing the knife, then the gauntlet on his arm pulls the knife back. He gets a collective applause from the group. As Jaune goes next, pulling out his sword and shield, "I got these." Then the shield collapses into a sheath when I get tired of carrying it. He puts it on his hip and sheaths the sword, "Won't it just weigh the same?" (Y/N) asks, causing Jaune to sigh, "It does. It was my grandfather's when he fought in the war." Ruby speaks up, "Sounds more like a family heirloom to me, but that's cool. (y/n) then spoke up "Then I mean all I got is this," he said as he confidently pulled out his sword from his back, causing the group to look at him with confusion. "That's it?!" They all said in unison. Meanwhile, (Y/n) nodded and said, "It has no slots for dust, and that's all I need." Ruby and the others were interested to know how he fought without the use of dust. "Well, my semblance lets me control flames," he held his hand out, and a flame swirled and swayed in his hand. "But our semblance is almost the same," Dante spoke up. "I can control flames, but I can also heal with mine." Dante cut his hand, and his flames healed the wound. "Well, damn," (Y/n) said, realizing the similarities.

When Ruby asked if anyone knew where the auditorium was, there was silence as no one knew. After some time, they found their way to the auditorium where Yang, Ruby's sister, found her and called her over. Ruby said goodbye to Jaune as she dragged (Y/n) along with her, and Dante followed. When they left, Jaune let out a sigh, "Where am I going to find another group of quirky people to talk to?" He walked off, revealing a red-haired girl in armor watching him walk off.

The camera then returns to the group as (Y/n) and Dante stand off to the side while Ruby lectures her sister about leaving her. "And I exploded! There was fire and I think some ice?" Ruby explained. "Yikes, meltdown already sis?" Yang retorted. "No, I LITERALLY EXPLODED," Ruby emphasized. Weiss walked up behind Ruby and scolded her for almost blowing them off the side of the cliff. Weiss held out a pamphlet that read "Dust for Dummy's" as she went on a rant.

Ruby's sister, Yang, took this chance to step in while (Y/n) and Dante watched. "Hey, look, I think you two just got off on the wrong foot, why not try again" Ruby jumped on the idea. "Great idea, sis. Hello, Weiss, I'm Ruby. Wanna hang out? We can shop for school supplies." Weiss then gained a sarcastic attitude, "Oh yeah, we can paint our nails and talk about cute boys like dark-skinned and cornrows over there," she said, pointing to Dante. "Or blonde and scrawny over there," she said, pointing behind her to Jaune. When Ruby commented with some hope, "Really?!" Weiss shut her down, saying, "No."

After Ozpin's speech, everyone was confused. "It was like he wasn't even there," (Y/n) said while Dante nodded in agreement. Later, (Y/n) and Dante got comfortable on their side of the ballroom as they got to know one another. "Hey, Dante, do you think we'll get some decent partners come initiation?" Dante looked to (Y/n) once he finished setting up his sleeping bag. "Not sure, hopefully, they're better than Ruby. I mean, the girl blew a hole in front of the school like five minutes upon stepping on campus." (Y/n) tried to defend Ruby, "Well, in her defense, Weiss shaking that container made dust start swirling. Someone is bound to sneeze because of it, you know, so it's kinda Weiss's fault for not having her lids on correctly." Dante nods, "Fair point. Well, let's get some rest." (Y/n) agrees and gets comfortable while he looks over to see the girls from earlier arguing again. He locks eyes with the girl in all black from earlier and motions asking her if she can put out her candle to which she nods and blows out the candle.
