"Who are you texting?"

It was a peaceful day. More peaceful than it had been for a while following the aftermath of the 'hot or not' list.

"Justin."

Ariel was laying on Jeff's bed typing away on her phone as she waited for him to finish getting ready.

Jeff wanted to roll his eyes.

Ofcourse. Who else would she be talking to?

He was throwing on a shirt in front of his dresser. Just as he finished he spun around and without warning, Jeff swooped in and took Ariel's phone. He plopped onto his bed and held it over his head.

"Hey!" She whined

Jeff grinned at her mischievously.

Ariel got on her knees on the mattress, looked up at him and pouted.

"Can I please have my phone back?"

"Not if you're going to text other guys in my presence." Jeff chuckled only half joking.

Ariel huffed in defeat. She was about to sit back down but at the last minute, surprised Jeff by jumping on top of him.

Ariel giggled and felt a sense of satisfaction when she felt the vibrations from Jeff's chest indicating his own chuckle.

"Brat." Jeff teased before placing a kiss on Ariel's forehead.

"Love me anyway?" Ariel teased as she pushed herself off of him.

"Always." Jeff spoke, sitting up as well.

Jeff's bedroom door suddenly swung open and Ariel saw a familiar dark haired lady enter.

"Mi hijo - oh." Jeff's mother stood at the doorway.

"Mamà!" Jeff yelled. "Didn't we talk about knocking?"

"Ai sorry, sorry!" Jeff's mother spoke shielding her eyes dramatically. "I didn't realise Ariel was here."

Ariel laughed. "Mrs Atkins, it's totally okay. This is your house after all, I should be the one apologising." Ariel spoke as she got to her feet.

She straightened her hair, hoping she looked presentable.

She was always so eager to please Jeff's mother.

"Oh dear, how many times do I have to tell you to call me Carmen." The beautiful lady spoke as she walked in and wrapped Ariel in a side hug, kissing her cheek.

Ariel smiled.

Jeff's mother was such vibrant and social woman. Ariel immediately saw where Jeff got it from.

"Are you making sure this boy of mine is studying?" Carmen asked Ariel in a teasing tone as she pinched Jeff's cheek playfully.

Jeff was still seated. That was the only way Carmen could reach his cheeks. Jeff got his height from his dad and his green eyes. Everything else was definitely his mum. He was practically a replica of her.

"Uhm..." Ariel looked at the abandoned flash cards that her and Jeff were supposed to be looking at on the side of his table.

"Mamà, can I help you with something?" Jeff intercepted. Standing up and giving his mother a 'please leave, you're embarrassing me' look.
