"Hey, how are you feeling?" Ariel asked as she peeked into Sherri's room.
They were supposed to be at Bryce's Halloween get together but Sherri had suddenly developed a stomach ache.
Ariel suspected it was something she had eaten.
With their dad out, she hadn't wanted to leave her alone. Besides, she wasn't really up for the party considering the events of the day.
Particularly the bombshell Clay had dropped.
"A bit better." Sherri lifted her head from where she was laying down across her bed, a book in her hands.
"I could make you more tea." Ariel suggested believing it would help.
"Not really in the mood to wake up a million times at night to pee." Sherri shrugged.
Ariel folded her arms across her chest and rolled her eyes at her sister.
"Yeah, you and your weak ass bladder."
Sherri's eyes widened. She sat up and tossed the stuffed bunny on her bed at Ariel. Ariel caught it easily and giggled.
She studied the pink bunny. His name was Mr Snuggles.
When Ariel and Sherri were ten, right as their parents finalised their divorce, their mum got them the twin bunnies with Ariel's being blue.
"Has mum called you recently?" Ariel asked curiously.
It was no secret who the Holland twin's mother's favourite was.
Sherri and their mother, Janet just had way more in common than Ariel did with her.
All her life, Ariel had felt like she had to fight to fit in with Sherri and Janet whenever they were having their 'bonding' moments.
They had the same taste in clothes and loved the same movies and music. Really, Ariel had always felt like Janet and Sherri should have been the twins.
It's not like Janet didn't try to be. Janet was one of those mums who tried too hard not to act her age. It helped that she didn't look it. But that also caused problems.
"Yeah, why?" Sherri asked.
Ariel shrugged.
"No reason."
"Hey," Ariel walked over and sat on Sherri's bed with her. She bit her lower lip. "I've been thinking of maybe picking up more sessions with Dr Ellman."
Sherri looked stunned. The twin quickly sat up.
"R-really? What brings this on?"
Ariel played with Mr Snuggles ears. Her own, very unoriginally named 'Mr Bunny' was on her bed in her room.
"Do you believe in ghosts?" Ariel asked.
Sherri's eyes widened.
"Ghosts?" She asked slowly.
Ariel saw the look in her eyes and could tell her sister thought she was losing it.
"You know what, forget I said anything." Ariel spoke laughing nervously as she got off Sherri's bed.
