After a few seconds of driving away from the school, another older individual, presumably male, turns in the passenger seat and looks at Luz and Amity. "Geez, what'd you girls get yourselves into back there?"
Amity stays silent. The male sighs. "Are you still mad about the cookies? Don't worry Sis, I gotchu." he tosses a small bag of cookies at her. Amity holds the bag in her hands. "...These are raisin cookies."
"Ed! Why'd you give her those?! Are you trying to poison her?!" Amity's older sister exclaims, reaching into the glove box before tossing another bag at Amity. "Here you go Mittens, M&M cookies."
"Hey! Those were mine!"
"Key word being 'were'."
Amity snickers, opening the new bag of cookies. She takes one, before handing it to Luz. "Want one?"
Luz takes a cookie, smiling softly. "Thanks." She takes a bite of the cookie. "Sooooo... I'm Luz, nice to meet you guys. Um... who are you exactly?"
The two in the front laugh. "I'm Emira," The older female says, focusing on the road, "And this is Edric. We're Amity's older, cooler siblings."
"Notice how she said 'cooler' and not 'smarter'." Amity says to Luz, popping a cooking in her mouth. Edric scoffs. "That's because you decided to hit the books, like a loser."
"I may be a loser, but at least I'm smart enough to sacrifice my dignity for some jerk's limp dick." Amity says, eating another cookie. Luz chokes on her cookie, while Emira chokes on air. "Hold on, I'm pulling over."
Emira pulls over and turns off the car, leaning her head against the wheel and laughing. "Oh I can't! I can't! I can... but not right now! I can't!"
Luz laughs. Not at what Amity said, but at the lack of care given as she continues to eat her cookies. Eventually Luz laughs so hard, she clutches her stomach. "Oh my gosh! I can't breathe."
Emira sighs leaning on her pouting brother's shoulder. "Oh, don't worry Ed. You know we wuv you."
Luz notices Edric crack a smile, hugging his twin sister.
"Even if you are nuttier than a peanut factory most of the time." Amity says. Emira gasps, clutching her heart. "Oh my gosh. My heart."
Ed scoffs. "At least I have a partner."
Now, we all know about that little unspoken line you don't cross when teasing siblings, right?
Well... He just crossed it.
The three girls stop and stare, waiting for him to realize just how badly he messed up. But Edric simply crosses his arms. Emira sighs, glancing at the two in the back. "Will one of you hand me my bag?" she asks. Luz nods, picking up a blue plaid backpack and handing it to the older girl. She notices Amity staring out the window.
'Sensitive topic... got it...'
Luz watches as Emira pulls a purple spray bottle out of the bag and starts spraying Edric with the liquid inside. The male groans. "Ah! What is this?! It's sticky!"
"Sugar water, because Dad said I couldn't use grapejuice." Emira says. "That's what you get for being a jerk to our sister!" She finishes, handing the bottle to Amity. Luz notices the words 'Dumbass Repellent' written on it with a silver sharpie.
"Our sister was being a jerk to my boyfriend!" Edric tries to justify his actions. Emira sighs. "One:" she holds up one finger. "She's our sister. It's in the job description." She puts up another. "Two: Your boyfriend is an A-grade jerk to everyone. To you. To me. To her. To Dad and Darius. Hunter. Even his own step-sister. So one person being a jerk to him isn't that bad." With that statement finished, another finger goes up. "Three: If the word of a 17-year-old girl means that much to him, then he needs to get over himself. Four: It's our job, as siblings, to protect each other from bad partners, so she's really just doing her job. And finally," she proceeds to smack Edric upside his head. "You saw what that break-up did to her. It basically destroyed her! Even if you did have any right to defend your asshole boyfriend, what would possess you to say that to her?!"
