We strolled down the halls to our rooms, the boys engaging in a conversation too boring for me to pay attention to. Not that I would've been able to concentrate even if it was interesting. I was still stuck on what happened on the field. At how her muffled screams quickly turned into heavy breaths, how her stiff body on defence quickly turned into a big sack of flour.
We turned the corner to pass by the main office where a group of girls stood, peering over the second corner to their left. One of them giggled as she pressed her back against the wall from almost being caught by whoever they were staring at.
I casually passed by them, carrying on my way then immediately slowed down when I saw the new Delling leaning against the wall.
He stood opposite the general's office, his head down, looking at the shine of his shoe as he moved his feet back and forth under the glimmer of light. Now I understood what they were giggling about.
Thirsty ass whores.
Unfortunately, I couldn't say it to them, nor to him. So, I just kept my gaze forward, continuing walking when a voice called out.
"You."
I froze.
Tom and Dimitri were the only others with me and that was not their voice. Slowly, I turned to my left and he was looking at me. His head slightly tilted to the side like a predator watching its prey.
I hated how even when doing something close to the borderline of sinister, he still looked bewitching.
"What's your name?" he asked, voice a low tone that resembled the heavy distinct drop of the rain hitting the grass. I hated the rain but even so it sounded beautiful.
I had to check around me to make sure I was the one he was talking to. Tom and Dimitri had stop to look too. Now if there was any doubt in their head that I was a Delling this motherfucker just erased that with his dumb question.
Why did he want to know my name?
"Who wants to know?" I enquired, putting on my bravest face so he'll know I wasn't the least scared of him.
"A Delling." He answered, simply.
"You want to know my name but yet don't have the decency to tell me yours."
The corner of his lips lifted up in a smirk. That was enough for me to know that whatever he was gonna say next was not gonna be in my favour. "It's the first I've seen a mortal talk back to a Delling. And it wasn't a request."
The million ways of how I could tell him to fuck off flashed in my mind, but it wasn't an option when a Delling held the same authority as a commander in here. Instead, I clenched my jaw, biting the words down.
His eyes shifted over to the guys and in a matter of seconds, the look of puzzlement and curiosity vanished from their faces, as they both looked down at the floor and got their feet to walk, passing right by me.
They left.
They fucking left me.
My mouth almost dropped but i had to hold my composure because his eyes were back on me, taunting me to defy him again.
"Sakura." I answered with tight lips and clenched jaw.
He did a slow upward nod, the muscles feathering in his jaw. "You're the girl they found in the woods right? They said you couldn't remember anything."
My brows furrowed in confusion. Why did he want to know that? And why did the news of my arrival already reached his ears?
"What interest does an almighty Delling have in a commoner's life like mine?"
