Sakura
We sat in the room, waiting, thinking. I was always curious as to how the Dellings were not overpopulated but it never once crossed my mind that they could be killed. It was impossible. We were – or the people of Southside - were taught that it was impossible. Saying otherwise now is mind boggling. But nonetheless, it's a light at the end of a tunnel. A long, dark, insect infested tunnel.
"How did you know I was the one in trouble?" Dimitri broke the silence. I answered.
"We didn't. We just heard the sirens and when we saw you running we figured it was you." we were lucky that we were on elevated areas otherwise we would have never seen him nor even know where he was. The bright light definitely helped with it.
"So you guys were already together?" He tried to sound normal but there was an edge in his voice. I already knew what he was thinking and so did Kane. I could see that damn smirk on his face.
"We were just talking." I stated, suddenly feeling the need to explain everything. The last thing I wanted was for anyone to think that I willingly chose to spend time with Kane. "I couldn't sleep and wanted some fresh air so I snuck out without the guard noticing and went to the roof. Kane was already there."
"Guard?"
FUCK
Kane's smile just grew wider. "Don't be shy, Sakura. Why don't you tell your jealous boyfriend why there's a guard following you around?"
"He's not my boyfriend." I said before Dimitri followed with "And I'm not jealous."
Kane just scanned him from head to toe and smiled. "Of course you're not." Then proceeded to look at me, making me feel even more obligated to spill everything now. I got down from where I was sitting, feeling all eyes on me.
I could lie saying that it was just a commander patrolling around, but knew I had to tell Dimitri eventually. There was no point in hiding it now, even if I had an unwanted audience.
I let out a frustrated sigh. "I told Tom." There I said it.
He just blinked, staring at me blankly and I continued. "I thought that I could trust him and he reported me. I managed to convince Alastor that it was all a joke but he's still having a guard follow me around just to be safe. That's why I didn't want to talk to you earlier. I didn't want him to know that you were associated with me."
It took a few long seconds for Dimitri to fully comprehend everything and when he did he looked stressed. So much so he aggressively combed his fingers through his messy hair about three times before finally looking at me.
"Do they know about my plan?"
"No." I shook my head. "I never mentioned anything about your involvement nor the others. No one knows, well except for Kane, now." We both turned to look at Kane who he looked confused about something. His thick brows were pushed against each other, creating a little wrinkle in the middle but he smoothed it out when he saw us.
Relaxed he lifted both hands in the air. "Don't mind me, I'm just a fly on the wall."
I found myself rolling my eyes before I had the chance to hold back.
"This is bad Sakura." Dimitri stated. "You could've gotten killed."
"You don't think I know that. I fucked up. I trusted Tom and in return he showed me why I never should've... I'm sorry."
I felt a weight on myself after saying the last two words, not because I didn't feel guilty or was too prideful to admit that I was wrong, but I wasn't sure how it was going to be received.
