Sakura
After dinner, I went straight to my room. Just pacing back and forth as impatience hit me the more the seconds ticked by. I wasn't sure what to wear so I stayed in my uniform, the only piece of clothing I had apart for my sleeping clothes that would make me stick out like a sore thumb if I wore them.
I couldn't believe that we were actually doing this.
I was finally going to the wall.
Dimitri and I were planning so many things to get to the wall, when the solution to this problem was in front of us the whole time. Kane.
But, still there was an unsettling feeling in my stomach that caused me to wonder if Kane would've helped me if I didn't tell him about what happened with the guards. That was the mere reason why he was helping me, and I felt disgusted by how that incident is now going to be a stepping stone to get me and Dimitri out of this wretched place.
And help me remember.
I kept having flashes of the tiny bits of memory I had at the wall, trying to pinch everything together in anticipation of the new grounds I was going to walk. I needed to scope as much land as I needed to remember and report back to Dimitri when I see him again.
That was if I saw Dimitri again.
I knew that Kane said he was fine but I couldn't help but worry about him. Worry about me also because whatever was happening in the west might come to affect the south too.
I walked over to the window, peering outside into the dimly lit, empty grounds. Not even a shadow seen from the moon light shining above.
It was almost four hours passed curfew now - I was counting - and the closer it got the more impatient I was getting. I couldn't help but fear that maybe he changed his mind. Maybe he thought it over and didn't want to do it anymore. Maybe he didn't see the importance of it or maybe he forgot.
I didn't get the chance to panic myself even more before there was a low, subtle knock at the door. I froze, listening, then there was another one. This time my feet didn't give me the chance to wait for any voice, I hurried to open it and leaning against the frame was an impassive Kane, dressed in a clothing similar to Southside but not one I've seen before. His hair was braided back, like earlier, embellishing the beautifully harsh features of his face.
"Put this on." He ordered, holding out two neatly folded piece of clothing towards me. I barely reached for it when he gave the other order before shutting the door in both of our faces. "And put your hair up, I don't want anyone seeing the red."
I did as I was ordered, for once not even thinking about a sly remark. And weirdly, not feeling the need to look over my shoulder in case anyone would walk in, I knew he was still standing there, and I knew he would protect my dignity.
Hurriedly, I pulled off my dirty clothes and tossed on the pair of pants and loose t-shirt, too big for my size, almost like he did it on purpose because the pants fitted perfectly. The fabric felt nice against my skin, something new and untouched by any other skin.
It was an east uniform; their symbol was bright on the left chest demanding attention.
Once done, I braided my hair back, I pushed my blade in the back pocket and went to open the door. The blade wouldn't do much if we got into a huge altercation but it was something, it was sharp enough to slit the throat of the bastards that thought my body was theirs to do with as they wished.
A fiery rage burned in my chest as I thought of them, the fear I should have for thinking about the vile things that I was going to do was nowhere to be found.
