We all watched as Sakura walked out and as soon as the door closed Shaylin turned to me with a sour expression. "Why are you even friends with her?"

My mouth opened out of habit to respond but it wasn't a question I really had an answer for. I just liked her. "She's heart cold to get to know but she's kind once she lets you in. You just need some time."

"Right," Sarcasm danced in her voice and I smiled because little did she know her and Sakura actually had similar personalities. They both spoke their mind unapologetically and that's what was making it hard for them to connect.

"Anyways, she and I aren't gonna be friends. We'd just stay clear of each other unless it has to do with the plan. She looked at me like she wanted to kill me. I could see the bat-shit crazy in her eyes."

A small chuckle bubbled up in my chest until it turned into full laughter. It felt good to have the laugh of the day.

"What's gonna happen when we leave anyway? We don't know what's out there, if it's even safe. We'd probably have to stay alongside one another and figure out how to hunt."

"Sakura came from somewhere; we just need to find that place."

"How can you be sure that she did though? How do we know that she wasn't just part of one of the other fighting sections here and the people that know her just haven't run in to her yet? It's not like she steps foot off the fighting areas.

Plus, fighting skills don't just come voluntarily, she was skilled when she came in which means she's trained. And she's healthy, she wouldn't have been in that good of shape if she was living outside the wall where you hunt for your own food, you're the one who told me that."

I shook my head, reluctant to put myself in that state of doubting her whereabouts again. That didn't matter right now. "I don't know, Shaylin."

"You like her." My eyes shot up at her, baffled. I was confused how the conversation even went in that direction. "Just admit it. And if she really is from beyond the wall, then the best thing she can do is regain her memories. It's not like she's helping with anything else."

That was something I had considered when telling Sakura my plan. She would've been of great help if she remembered everything but you can't force memories back. It wasn't an off and on switch she could change just like that.

Plus, it wouldn't have been of great help if the place she came from was the north. That possibility was never too far from everything else.

"We're gonna go." Shaylin stood up along with Daevon. "Let us know when you come up with something." And with that, I watched as they both exited the room.
