CHAPTER EIGHT: THINGS ARE GONNA BE DIFFERENT

Kaitlyn stood leaned up against a car she had rented as she looked around at the people around her. Her mind was clouded with the events that went on the last week or so. A voice made her snap out of her thoughts. "Is this what you had in mind when you left me that letter?" Kaitlyn turned her head to see Klaus standing there with his usual devilish smirk. "You running and me chasing after you?"

Kaitlyn shrugged her shoulders with a small smile on her lips. "Maybe i just wanted to be sure that this was what you wanted."

"It's not." Klaus said instantly making her raise her eyebrows. "You are."

Kaitlyn couldn't help the slight blush on her cheeks at his words before her face got serious. "Are we really doing this? Things are gonna be different, Nik. I'm a vampire now. I know everything now. If we do this, everyone is gonna know. My friends, our families, our enemies." Klaus knew she really meant his enemies but she continued, "When words gets out that there's another original, things are gonna get messy and probably very bloody."

"Then we'll fight them together. Me and you. I think we've waited long enough for this, don't you?" He asked as Kaitlyn nodded her head to his question.

"Yeah, we have. What about Elijah? And Caroline?" She asked, not sure what else the pair could be planning. She didn't want to believe that Caroline was part of it willingly but she knew how alluring a Mikaelson could be.

"Elijah will be taken care of if he tries anything else but his plan failed already." Klaus assured her but Kaitlyn recognized that he left the blonde vampire out of his answer.

"And Caroline?" Kaitlyn asked looking over at him to see him glancing away from her. "Did something...happen between you two at all?"

Klaus looked back at her and nodded. "Yeah.

Kaitlyn could feel the hurt and anger when he admitted to something happening between the two. She was mad at both of them for doing this but she wasn't gonna show it. "Okay."

"Okay?" He asked her with confusion written on his face.

"I don't like it. I'm not happy about it but i don't want secrets between us, Nik. Besides, considering you're here chasing after me, i don't think i need to be too worried about her. Do i?" Kaitlyn asked him, she needed to be sure that Caroline wasn't even an option in his mind.

"You don't ever have to be worried about anyone." He assured her to which she nodded. It was silent for a moment or two before Klaus spoke up again. "Do you remember the week we had in Paris?"

"Of course i do. It was my birthday and i told you how i always pictured a very cheesy moment under the Eiffel Tower." Kaitlyn chuckled as she remembered back to that conversation. She was weak for RomComs.

"Well, what you didn't know was that i had very different plans than how everything turned out." Klaus told her which made her confused because they had such a great time in Paris. It was so romantic and fun.

"What do you mean? Paris was great." She told him, voicing her thoughts.

"Rebekah helped me pick out a ring. I figured that she would know a little bit of what you would like." Kaitlyn's lips parted as she realized what he was saying. "That cheesy moment under the Eiffel Tower, i was gonna propose to you."

"What stopped you?" She asked, genuinely curious why he didn't do that.

"Stefan." He responded which made her nod her head with a scoff. "You didn't know what i was. Who i was. The reputation i had. It would have put you in danger."

"And whose words were those?" She knew exactly whose words those were. It seemed like Stefan was a huge part of what happened between the two and all she felt was betrayl.

"Things are different now but one thing that has not is what i have planned. It just won't be in Paris, having a cheesy moment under the Eiffel Tower." Klaus told her which would have made her human heart absolutely beat out of her chest.

5 MONTHS LATER...

"Kaitlyn!" Kailyn panted as she ran from the yelling of her name. She knew she could use her speed but he would catch up just as fast if it weren't for Elijah. Kaitlyn hid behind a brick wall, tuning into the conversation a few feet away from the two brothers, her head peaking out slightly to watch.

"Niklaus, stop this." Elijah had his hand out towards his brother, who had a murderous look on his face. "Do not do something that you'll regret."

"Get out of my way, Elijah." Klaus seethed as he gripped the white oak stake in his hand.

"I will not!" Elijah shouted as his brother, things had taken a drastic turn and Elijah didn't know how it gotten this bad. "Kaitlyn and i may have had our differences in the past but you can't do this. You cannot kill her."

"Actually i can. I have the white oak stake." Klaus had a cold look in his eyes and a smirk on his face as he raised the stake.

"And have you ever even taken a moment to think about why you need the weapon that can only kill an original?" Elijah asked as Klaus' face faltered ever so slightly at his words, the stake slowly lowering. "You presented the idea to her-against everyone's judgement. You wanted to spend the rest of your life with her so you asked her to be truly immortal with you and she said yes because she loves you."

"You're lying! She is the enemy, Elijah." Klaus tried to convince Elijah of it but Elijah knew the truth.

Elijah's face softened as he thought about what Klaus said, "You know, i once thought that as well. I almost made a huge mistake regarding Kaitlyn and the memories of you but thankfully, you already went through with turning her immortal."

Kaitlyn booked it into a small underground cellar type thing as Elijah continued talking, "Niklaus, i understand that your memories of her are gone but I'm telling you this; She is the love of your life and if you kill her now, one day, you will get those memories back and you will be heartbroken."

Klaus' lips parted slightly as Elijah said those last few words, he was fighting the anger and denial in his mind about her. Kaitlyn leaned against the wall, her eyes glossy at the thought of losing him all over again.
