Im not saying I didn't like it 12/10

The days between the end of classes and the beginning of the Christmas break made the castle feel out of a fairytale, at least more than usual.

Even professors were cheerful at this time of the year, the decorations were in every room and hallway all of them so beautiful. Inside the castle was warm and cozy and outside everything looked so beautifully ethereal covered in snow it didn't matter it was freezing, you looked through the windows on your way to the Room of Requirements and saw a lot of students playing outside.

You were going to meet Garreth there, it was your first Christmas as a couple and you wanted to exchange gifts before he left for the winter break.

When you walked in, you appreciated the decorations your friends had helped you put together since Nati, and Ominis had to spend Christmas at Hogwarts you, Sebastian, and Anne decided to do the same. 

Poppy asked Deek to change the lighting of the room to a warm and cozy atmosphere. Sebastian, Nati, and Ominis helped Anne sneak into the castle and she brought some decorations from her cottage, all of them were old but in perfect condition.

"My parents loved Christmas" told Anne while everyone unpacked the boxes "so Sebastian and I tried to keep as many decorations as we could. I'm glad to finally give them a proper use, they will look better here than they ever did at Feldcroft"

She brought endless garland, and different wreaths all so elegant, a lot of gorgeous poinsettias and beautiful ornaments for the Christmas tree, the one that you Garreth conjure together. You were so excited to spend Christmas with your friends, but a little bit sad. You knew you would miss Garreth a lot.

Speaking of the handsome devil, Garreth was walking back and forth in the center of the room, holding a neatly wrapped package in one hand. Before he saw you, you put your gift on a little table.

When Garreth saw you he hid the gift behind his back and greeted you. "Hey, hello darling. H-how's your day going?" he seemed oddly nervous.

"It's been good, thanks." you kissed him on the cheek and walked around to check on your brewings and plants. "How's your day going?" you asked Garreth from the distance, wondering why he didn't follow you around to try and mess with your potions.

"G-good, yes. Busy morning packing a-and, honey don't you have to feed your beast? We can exchange gifts later... or next term, it doesn't matter to me."

"Don't worry about it, Sebastian helped me this morning" You walked back to him and wondered what was wrong.

"Greeeeat. Perfect" he passed his free hand through his hair but stopped when he noticed you were looking at him. 

"Can I begin? I can't wait to see your face when you open it" You had been expecting this moment for over a month and it was hard to keep your mouth shut about it. You were so excited to see his reaction.

"S-sure" he said, not exactly excited.

You grabbed his gift from the little table behind you and turned to face him.

He put the gift meant for you on a sofa near you two.

"All right, it wasn't easy to get it but I really hope you like it" You gave him a little oak chest. "Careful, it's a bit heavy." as he opened it you shouted "Happy early Christmas, love!"

Garreth didn't say a word, he looked at his gift and just blinked in silence for a few seconds.

"You don't like it" you said mortified. "Oh, Merlin. Honey, I'm so sorry, I knew I should have given you a new broom or..."

"Darling, I'm not saying I didn't like it. I-I love it. How did you manage to get Occamy Eggshells?"

"I got some help. Actually, I got a lot of help, but they didn't arrive until today, and I was freaking out. It was a miracle Ominis got them in time and..."

"Wait, that's why you were with Ominis this morning at the Great Hall?" he interrupted and you looked at him disconcerted.

"Y-yes. You were there? Why didn't you said hello? I missed you all morning."

He put the chest on the sofa next to his gift and took out a piece of eggshell, it glowed as he moved it to examine it.

"Garreth, what's wrong?" you started getting nervous.

"I'm sorry. I missed you all morning as well so I went to find you. But I didn't get close because I was embarrassed." he put the eggshell back in the chest and took your hands "When I saw you and Ominis, he was giving you the chest and I saw you opened it and then hugged him, and shout Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are the best! I thought he was giving you a present and the only thing on my mind since then has been how you deserved the world" his voice cracked a little "He can give you anything, expensive and luxurious things like you deserve. When... when I only got you this." he took the gift and put it in your hands.

You looked at it and then at him. He was looking down at the floor, embarrassed.

You put the gift back on the sofa, grabbed his head between your hands, and put your forehead on his.

"I love it, thank you."

"But you haven't ..."

"I don't care, I love it because you are the one giving it to me. And that's everything I could ever wish for Garreth."

He wrapped you in his arms and hugged you tight.

"Thank you, gorgeous. But please don't say you love it before you see it." he gave you the gift again.

"I just know I'm going to love it" you laughed while unwrapping it.

Behind the wrap you found a soft knitted sweater, it had your initials on the chest and the thread was your favorite color.

"Garreth..."

"I know. I should have given you something nicer, as you deserve but..."

"Did you make this?" you asked with a broken voice while you caressed the fabric.

"Y-yes, it is sort of a family tradition." your eyes began to fill with tears "Oh sweetheart please don't cry, I promise I'll buy you something better." he hugged you and kissed your head.

"Don't you dare do such a thing" You wiped your tears and looked at him "Garreth, this is the most beautiful gift ever. I love it, truly."

"You do?" his green eyes sparked so beautifully that you wanted to look at them forever.

"Yes. It's so lovely and sweet. Thank you, my love, you are the best" You gave him a tender kiss on the lips. You took the sweater out and put it on "It even smells like you! I'll still miss you but this will help so much, thank you darling"

Garreth caress your hair slowly.

"You are the best. I can believe you gave me one of the rarest potion ingredients, now I don't have to sneak into Sharp's supplies closet. I love you so much." he kissed you back and after that, he put his hand on your cheek and you leaned to his touch. "You deserve the world, not just a sweater".

You rolled your eyes, grabbed him by his jacket neck, and pulled him closer to you.

"You are my world, Garreth Weasley. And as long as you can give me that I'll be the happiest person alive." he gave you a mischievous smile.

"I had been yours since day one, sweetheart."

"Good. Happy early Christmas, my love." you kissed him.

"Happy early Christmas, gorgeous" and he kissed you back.
