POV: AuthorAt the Shekhawat Mansion
It was late afternoon as Anvi and Ranvijay pulled up to the Shekhawat Mansion. As soon as they reached, Ranvijay turned toward Anvi with a soft but firm look in his eyes.
"Be ready by 7 p.m., alright? I'll come to pick you up, and from here, we'll head straight to the party," he said.
"Yes, but... aren't you coming in?" Anvi asked, biting her lip a little as she looked at him. She was trying to hide the slight disappointment in her tone.
"I have a meeting in half an hour. I really can't," he replied. Anvi nodded, understanding but a bit let down.
"Alright then...drive safe," she murmured, stepping out of the car. Ranvijay only nodded, a faint smirk on his face as he watched her close the door. Just as he drove off, she muttered to herself, "Mr. Rudy."
As soon as Anvi entered the mansion, she shouted out with all the joy she'd held in, "Bhaiyuuuuuu!" Her eyes sparkled with excitement.
Aniket, her brother, came rushing down the stairs, surprised to see his sister. "Anvi! What are you doing here? Couldn't my friend handle you for even two days, so he sent you back already?" He teased her, but his eyes held a hint of relief.
"Oh, come on, Bhai! At least appreciate me now that I'm here. And what do you mean? Are you saying I'm a troublemaker?" she teased him, folding her arms and giving him a pretend glare.
"Alright, alright! Don't get mad. Honestly, I missed you. The house felt too quiet without you," he said with a gentle smile, sitting down beside her in the living room.
"By the way, I'm only here for a few hours; I have to leave by evening," she added with a little frown. "Ranvijay is taking me to a party tonight. "It's organized by some of his friends, and he insisted I go with him."
"Really? That's strange, though; I thought he decided not to go. Ah, I get it now...that guy can't stay away from you for even a day," Aniket mumbled to himself, his voice low enough that Anvi couldn't hear.
"Bhai, what are you mumbling about? Speak louder!" she said, playfully smacking him on the arm.
"Oh, it's nothing. Just tell me...is everyone treating you well there? Are you comfortable?"
"Yes, Bhai, everyone's really nice. And I found my own little gang with Abhishek, Anika, and Ansh. They're all a lot of fun," she said, her eyes lighting up as she talked. And so the two siblings continued their conversation, laughing and catching up.
--------
The day flew by, and soon it was evening.Despite being happy spending time with her brother, Anvi couldn't shake the anticipation of seeing Ranvijay again. She was already dressed in a stunning purple velvet saree, a ready-to-wear style that thankfully spared her the struggle of draping it.
Standing in front of the mirror, she sighed, still unsure if she was dressed right for the event. "Am I looking okay? Ugh, I don't even know what kind of party it is. Maybe I should just ask him..." she muttered, taking a selfie and sending it to Ranvijay.Within seconds, her phone buzzed with a reply, and her cheeks turned crimson as she read his message.
Ranvijay: "Biwi, you're looking like a goddess. This saree is screaming my name, and I think we should cancel the party so that you can scream my name too 😉"
Anvi bit her lip, rereading his message with a smile so wide it hurt. She was still blushing and giggling over his words when another message popped up.
Ranvijay: "Stop blushing, Biwi. I'm downstairs. Come quick."
Taking a deep breath, Anvi rushed down the stairs, glancing one last time in the mirror as she hurried out of her room. She was so lost in her own thoughts that she nearly tripped on her saree, but before she could fall, she felt a strong pair of arms catch her.
"Be careful, Anvi! Why are you always so clumsy?" her brother scolded, looking slightly alarmed.
Ranvijay's deep voice cut through."Aniket inhe befikar ho kar kadam uthane de hum hai inhe har kadam par sambhalne ke liye"he said, his hand still holding her arm, steadying her.
(Let her be, Aniket. She has me to catch her every time she falls)
Aniket scoffed. "Look who's here, Mr. Majnu himself. Couldn't stay away from my sister for even one day, could you?"
Ranvijay ignored him, focusing on Anvi as he gently pulled her along toward the door. Aniket, however, wasn't ready to let go. "Bring her back here after the party, and she's staying with me for two days!" he demanded, his face serious.
Ranvijay smirked. "She's coming back with me tonight. And remember, Aniket, she's my wife now, not just your sister." Holding Anvi's hand, he walked them toward the exit, not once looking back.
"Hey! She's my sister first, you know!" Aniket shouted from behind, but Ranvijay simply rolled his eyes. Anvi tried to pull her hand away to bid goodbye to her brother, but Ranvijay only held her hand tighter.
"What is it now?" he grumbled as she tried to break free.
"I just wanted to say goodbye to Bhai!" she replied, gesturing back.
"Biwi bhaiya paar dhyan na do saiyan par do thoda abhi" he said, winking as they walked out together.
(Biwi, don't worry about him now. Focus a little more on your husband, hmm?)
