Chapter 17: The Plan

Hi, it's me, sorry for the long wait of this chapter, there was a lot of life stuff that I needed to catch up on, but  will try to get these chapters out more frequently. Thomas's POV:

I just stare at the strange sight in shock, this guy just appeared from inside the vents...How long had he been in there? I watched as he twisted and squirmed around something else, but eventually made it out of the steel vent. Before I could say anything, another person popped out of the vents, a girl I don't think I've ever seen before. Minho spoke first, everyone else still struggling with the fact that two random people just popped out of the vent. 

"Who are you guys? What do you want? And most importantly, why are you here?" 

"I'm Aris, and this is my friend Rachel. We were in the maze together, similar to all of you guys. We don't want to cause any trouble, we just want to help. We saw the guy who's with the blonde one make a huge scene in the cafeteria, and we knew that something was amiss, so we went to find out. We're just here to help, we think that there is something off about this place, and we think you know it too." The boy named Aris said.

"Okay, so hypothetically, if we trusted you two, which we don't, you think you could help us get Newt back?" Minho said. 

The two mostly-strangers  looked at us with confusion plastered on their faces. 

"Newt, the blonde one. The one that this shank was having a whole scene with." Minho said, pointing at me. 

 "Ooooh, right, yes." The boy named Aris said. 

The girl whose name was Rachel turned to me. 

"Look, I'm really sorry about Newt, that must be really hard for you, but don't worry, we will help you get him back." 

She gave me a reassuring smile.  I smiled back, still unsure about her. I was still super confused, everything was moving so fast, first two random people come out of the vents, then they tell us that they have been watching us, then they offer to help me get Newt back? I don't even know at this point, sure we didn't really have a reason to trust them, but they didn't seem like much of a threat, I mean, the boy, Aris, was basically a twig, and his girl companion on the other hand, Rachel, looked like she could maybe take on Winston, maybe.

I wasn't underestimating them though, they said they did survive the maze, and the maze is no piece of cake. Then it hit me, what was their maze like? Was 'The Weeper' there too? Did they have something similar? And where was Teresa? Sure she's not my favourite person, I mean, she hurt Newt, and that is not okay at all, but I know that she's not a bad person. I also just assumed she'd be with these two, we haven't really seen her much since we got out. 

"Hey, what happened to Teresa? You know her right?" I asked Rachel.

Her eyes were cast downwards, and sadness filled her face. 

"Teresa went ti have a talk with Jansen the second night, she was returned to us but she was different. Jansen filled her head with lies, he's made it seem like somehow this entire place is everything she's ever wanted. We tried to convince her that Jansen was lying to her, but she wouldn't listen. She was removed from our bunks the fourth night, we haven't seen her since." Rachel said, looking up at me from the floor. 

"Wait, hold it right there shuck-face, does that mean that we now have to rescue her from this  wretched place too?" Minho asked, moving his stare from Aris and Rachel to me.
