The great hall is only ever alive once a year for the ceremonial ball to celebrate the institution's achievements. It's the same tradition every year; ceremonial dance to begin, performance of powers to show off student's achievements, then a band plays music until the early hours of the morning. Despite the institution usually being quite strict, the night is usually one of the best of the year mostly because they're actually allowed alcohol.
Tonight is no exception, but it's the first time Jungkook has a date to take part in the dance with, the first time he'll be performing and the first time he plans on actually enjoying it.
As he walks down the halls with Grey tightly pressed to his side and his arm wrapped firmly around her, he feels calm, like he's exactly where he's supposed to be. His friends all walk ahead laughing amongst each other and their dates making him smile as he watches them. He's been looking forward to this night for years and he can't believe it's finally happening.
Arriving at the great hall, Jungkook and Grey follow the rest of the pairs that are beginning to line up in rows throughout the hall to get into position for the ceremonial dance. Each of them stand a metre apart waiting for the music to begin and finally lead them into the night.
The strum of violins fills the room alerting the students to begin the same dance they've learned throughout the years. Jungkook holds his hand out to Grey, a giddy grin on his face as she does as she was taught and curtsies before taking his hand.
Grey eyes Jungkook up and down and bites into her bottom lip, "Did I mention how hot you look in that suit?"
Jungkook tugs Grey towards him and into his hold with one arm around her waist and the other in hers level with their heads. He scoffs, "Still trying to tease me?"
Grey chuckles, "Only if it's going to get me where you promised."
"You can count on it baby."
Grey reciprocates his smile, even giggling slightly as they begin to imitate the moves they were taught. Jungkook is determined to make Grey feel like she's the lead in all those rom-coms he watched growing up, so he perfectly executes each of the moves as the other couples begin to dance around the room.
The pair keep eye contact almost the entire time, their gazes soft yet full of excitement. Jungkook twirls Grey out and back into his chest where he steals a quick kiss making her giggle as they continue to move around the room.
Finally arriving back to where they started, all of the couples separate and bow to each other before collectively making their way hand in hand to the stage where the principal stands behind a microphone. Grey looks up to him only having seen him for the first time today and finds that he's already looking directly at her. She gulps feeling a shiver run down her spine at the rather chilling stare he wears.
