What Happens In The Maldives Hopefully Won't Stay In The Maldives (Wroetozerk)

For zex62a. I based it more so on Josh's vlog in the Maldives than the Sidemen video.

It's dark. So, so fucking dark. So, so, so.

Frightened, but with no one there to admit it to, Harry continues down the inky path, applying extra force to the pedals as his hands twitch sparingly around the handlebars of his bike. He goes faster as a result, but that makes his stomach tighten and his heart beat faster inside his chest than it already is. (Somehow.)

He slows back down again.

Meekly, Harry utters out a tittered, "Josh?" though there's no response. He tries again by calling John's name instead. Still, neither of his friends answer him back.

The nightmare continues on just the same for so long (a whole hour) that Harry ends up half convinced that he is truly sleeping, locked in a world of terrors where he is left alone to wallow in his own isolation. (Where's Josh? He needs Josh. He needs him now. Yesterday.)

With a half-hearted, "Josh?" that earns him a concerned glance from a disturbed-looking passerby, Harry truly starts to believe - hope, more like - that he genuinely is locked away in some tortured dreamland. Having been awake for over twenty-four hours already (Harry couldn't remember the specific amount but Josh would know for sure) the idea is totally believable, as well as beyond likely. Harry probably just conked out on Josh's bed whilst touring the villa.

Josh wouldn't mind, he'd leave him be to get some much needed rest unless he believed Harry to be truly troubled.

Knowing Josh, the guy would probably even stop to tuck Harry in properly in passing. The thought is a reassuring beacon in Harry's blind anxiety, slowly forming the beginnings of a gentle smile on his face, as if Harry is touched simply by the likelihood of the situation and general kindness of his friend.

It's then that Harry hears something, his heartbeat immediately stuttering in his body as he remembers where he is. He edges closer to the noise, still on his borrowed bike, until the sound of his own name preceding a huffed laugh catches his attention.

That's Josh's voice. That's Josh! Josh and John, the both of them are there, and Harry is finally no longer alone.

"Josh!" Harry practically screams as soon as he crosses the boundary line of the trees, his expression nearly as loud and as relieved as his voice audibly is.

When Josh looks up from his camera and towards Harry, Harry's breath rightfully falters, his voice choked up inside his throat behind his body's proposal of an overwhelmed, grateful sob.

Quickly, Harry basically jumps from his bicycle, abandoning the, in his current opinion, wretched transport device against the wooden panelling in order to run towards the other two men. Both are stood still waiting for him now that they've also noticed him, the smiles on their faces a wonderful mix of surprised and jovial that makes something in Harry's stomach flutter; who doesn't love feeling wanted and appreciated?

Harry stops running only once his body has collided with Josh's and his arms have wrapped themselves as tight as possible (without being painful) around the older man. His face is welcomed by the crook of Josh's neck, where Harry has to breathe in a few times to absorb all physical reminders to his senses that Josh is here with him now and Harry is no longer trapped in pitch black nature on a lonely journey of solitude. Josh smells like a comforting mix of alcohol and the ocean, and Harry inhales through his nose whilst simultaneously burrowing closer against his friend's warm skin, as if he would be able to taste the rum and coke the other surely drank if only he could just get close enough.
