MAHINA.

A wave of power pours out of me and my vision turns blurry, and then everything goes dark.

They took away my heart, maybe they came back for me too, I hug the merciful oblivion feeling my body shut down.

And then silence reigns, and it's nice, it is true what they say, there is a beautiful silence in death, one that brings with it peace...

                                                                                                      ******

"So freaking dramatic, is this all I'm going to be getting!"

What was that?

"Rude! I'm not a what, I'm a who. Open your eyes already."

That whiny voice was sort of familiar, very familiar.

"Damn right, I'm familiar because I'm your familiar.

...

"Get it? See what I did there?"

I don't answer, maybe that will make this weird dream go away.

Something smacks my cheek and I wince moving to rub it.

"I'm not some dream, I'm your familiar."

You said that already, it's just not creating any impact you slightly unhinged spirit.

This time the smack on the heels of my thoughts has more oomph and I yelp sitting up and finally opening my eyes to...nothing.

"Finally!"

The voice has me turning so fast, I knock myself back down. Where the hell was I?

"I have absolutely no idea, I just followed you."

Followed me? Followed me from where? I rack my brain trying to recall anything.

Suddenly, my knees give as a wave of grief and despair grips me making me see black spots.

"Oh shit! Don't die on me, I was just rebirthed damn it, breathe Mahina, Breathe!"

"They ...they took from me...my ...was...was in a box...and..."

I feel someone patting my back as if in comfort, though hesitantly.

"There, there, everything will work itself out, just wake up, and I mean really wake up not this dreamscape you've got going on."

"Why would I wake up? I have nothing else to live for let me go back." I answer out loud, not really registering the words.

Why did I have nothing?

I try recalling again and this time a sharp pain flashes through my head.

"I can't let that happen, I'm your companion and protector, even if I have to protect you from yourself."

"And what do you mean you have nothing? There's a whole load of people talking and begging you to come back, they all seem very concerned. Are they ours?"

"Shouldn't you know that as my familiar?"

"Oh, so you're acknowledging me?"

"Not really just asking."

"Normally I would know you and everything about you the moment we bond after my rebirth, but that hasn't happened yet, and I can't pry because you are all locked up in here," she says tapping my head, which is trippy because she was yet to show herself to me.
