The gang was on their way to Vermilion City so Mark could get the Thunder Badge.
"How do you intend to battle Lt. Surge?" Misty asked him. She was curious about his strategy for the gym battle.
"I'll head to Diglett's Cave." He went on say that Diglett and Dugtrio call that cave home.
"Capturing a ground type Pokemon for the battle with Lt. Surge. That's a good idea." Misty thought it was smart.
Brock also liked his idea.
After a while, they finally stumbled across Vermilion City.
"I'm going to capture a Sandshrew on Route 11. If that doesn't work, I'll go after a Diglett in Diglett's Cave." He determined.
Misty and Brock nodded and then he left them alone.
Mark then walked west towards Route 11.
'Now where can I find a Sandshrew.' He thought.
He soon received a answer to his question when a Sandshrew strolled through the grass in front of him.
"Got you." He smirked.
"Go, Bulbasaur." Bulbasaur was released to take Sandshrew on.
"Bulba." Bulbasaur braced itself.
Sandshrew also prepared itself for a battle.
"Vine Whip." Bulbasaur smacked Sandshrew with it's vines.
This left Sandshrew in a lot of pain and weakened it.
Mark then prepared a Poke Ball to capture it.
It wasn't long before Sandshrew was captured.
"Welcome to the team." Mark said with a smile.
He then went back to where Brock and Misty were.
"How was it?" Misty asked.
Sandshrew's Poke Ball was shown to them.
"Good job." Brock congratulated him.
With Sandshrew caught, he was ready to take Lt. Surge on.
