[Stressed out ] - [21pilots]The sky gradually grew lighter with each passing moment. When 5:53 AM finally arrived, Vienna woke up to start her study session. She looked around, hoping to find her sister, but there was no sign of her.
As she prepared her table, arranging her books and notes in meticulous order, her phone buzzed suddenly, startling her from her thoughts.
She picked up the phone, confused, then saw it was her sister's ID.
"Where the hell have you been?"
"Well, good morning to you too. I was waiting for a 'missed you' kind of thing," Akane's voice was laced with a hint of sarcasm.
"I was worried like crazy."
The line went quiet for a moment before Akane spoke again, "I got myself a job at a factory. I'll make sure my paycheck goes to you."
"I don't care about the money! Can't you come back to take care of me at least until the exams?" Vienna's voice broke, a plea hidden in her words.
"I can't even take a single day off now; it's the peak production period at the factory. If I tried to take two months' leave, I'd definitely be fired. Vi, be good and persevere for two more months – you can do that, can't you?"
Vienna fell into silence, the weight of her sister's words settling heavily on her shoulders.
Receiving no response, Akane's tone softened as she moved to a more secluded corner, "Vi, are you missing sis?"
Vienna nodded, her voice barely a whisper, "Yes."
"Our little Vi is going to enter university soon, so I need to earn the money for that. If I stops working, who else would provide for her? We can't possibly beg, could we?"
Vienna's silence was her answer, her heart aching with the understanding of her sister's sacrifice.
Even if her sister returned, she could do little else except comfort Vienna. Furthermore, her wish was rather extravagant in nature, and was in actuality a luxury that their family was unable to afford.
When Vienna opened the door and stepped out, she was greeted with a vast expanse of azure blue sky. The morning sun's glare was already beginning to warm the air, promising a scorching day ahead.
She reached her class early. Mei's seat was still glaringly empty, a stark reminder of recent events.
Mei is no longer here, she repeated in her mind.
