[Again & Again] - [the bird and the bee]

Shotaro swiftly took his seat across from Ni-ki, but Ni-ki remained resolute, stipulating one condition.

"The wound inflicted by Vienna on Hana is not deep. Hana was murdered by Taki so Vienna should not be convicted of any crime."

Before Shotaro could respond, Ni-ki's lawyer interjected, "I understand your concern. Don't worry, if the police officers decide to charge Vienna and prosecute her, I assure you that I'll be more than capable of defending her successfully."

Shotaro hesitated for a moment before conceding, "What I'm about to share may not be appropriate for my role as a police officer, but I want to let you know that we currently do not have any evidence proving that Vienna injured or murdered Hana. Specifically, we are lacking in physical evidence."

Ni-ki nodded in response to Shotaro's confirmation.

He wasn't responsible for Hana's murder.

By the time Ni-ki arrived at the hill behind the school compound, Hana was already dead.

He conducted a quick inspection of Hana's body and observed only a single, deep cut. Besides that, he couldn't find any other wounds or injuries on her.

Despite his calm demeanor, for a brief moment, Ni-ki considered reporting the incident to the police.

However, he quickly abandoned the idea. Involving the police would mean that Vienna's possession of a knife and her meeting with Hana would come under intense scrutiny.

Ni-ki hurriedly devised a plan. He decided to disguise himself as the raincoat man. Without wasting any time, he went home, retrieved a vibrator his mother had left in a drawer, and used it to stage a false scene suggesting Hana had been sexually assaulted.

Taki owned several nearly identical raincoats, and Ni-ki had borrowed one earlier, only to have not returned it yet. He decided to make use of this raincoat, pressing Hana's fingernails against it to leave several scratch marks, creating a false impression of the events.

He knew that the torrential downpour that night would cover his motorcycle tracks; he also knew that there was little to no human traffic in the area surrounding the marsh—an ideal setting for his plan to keep Hana's corpse hidden indefinitely. But fate had other plans.

One of Hana's shoes fell into the rushing river below and so did his red string, and then the Gojo Bridge collapsed, drawing construction workers and attention to the area near the marsh.
