The first rays of dawn filtered through the curtains, painting the room in a soft, golden hue. The remnants of last night's storm clung to the air, leaving behind a crisp, earthy scent.

By the time Vienna woke up, the sun was already high in the sky, casting sharp shadows across the room. It was 10:00 AM. The spot beside her was cold, and Ni-ki was nowhere to be seen.

She slowly sat up, her body stiff from the night's tension, and her gaze fell on a small plate of eggs and a cup of milk that lay quietly on the table.

Vienna crawled out of bed, quietly eating her breakfast while flipping through her books. When the clock struck noon, Vienna heard footsteps making their way up the staircase outside—Ni-ki was about to return. A mild feeling of anxiety overcame Vienna, and she buried her head in her pile of books.

He entered the house, heading straight into the kitchen without acknowledging Vienna's presence.

Vienna stole a few glances at him from the corner of her eye. The faint outline of a shoeprint on the hem of his jeans caught her attention—at that moment, she understood why Ni-ki had been gone all morning.

A tingling sensation crept up her nose, and a lump formed in her throat. She wanted to thank him for all his help, but the words seemed to escape her.

Ni-ki, on the other hand, seemed to have nothing to say.

The small, narrow house held two living souls, yet the atmosphere felt strangely lifeless.

Ni-ki collapsed onto the bed, casually flipping through his comics, while Vienna sat at the table, quietly reading her textbooks. Neither spoke, the stale silence only interrupted by the gentle hum of the rotating fan.

Vienna closed her book but kept her eyes on him, her gaze drifting over the faint cuts on his face. His striking features were marred by those small marks, yet they only seemed to add to his dangerous allure.

Ni-ki noticed her staring, dropped his comic onto the bed, and asked, "What do you want?"

"Nothing."

"Then why are you staring?"

Gathering her courage, Vienna walked over to his bed and bowed slightly. "Thank...you...for last night."

Ni-ki mumbled, "So, you do have manners." He let his comic slide to the floor and stood up, closing the distance between them in a few strides.
