[ Vienna] - [ Billy Joel]

The next morning, Ni-ki was woken by the unending stream of noises from outside the window. Struggling to open his eyes in the humid and stuffy room, he blinked against the dim light filtering through the curtains.

With a groggy sigh, he slowly turned to look behind him, only to discover that the other half of the bed was empty. The sheets were crumpled, but there was no sign of Vienna.

A flicker of concern passed through him as he sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

The absence of her small form next to him left an unexpected void, and he found himself listening intently for any sounds from the apartment that might indicate where she had gone.

For a moment, he simply stared at the empty space, feeling a strange unease settle over him.

Jumping off the bed, Ni-ki headed over to the shoe box. Although the box remained in place, the two tiny ducklings had disappeared. The barely audible sound of someone narrating drifted into Ni-ki's ears.

Intrigued, he turned back, carefully scaling the stairwell and headed to the rooftop. As he ascended, the voice gradually became clearer and louder, a steady and extremely gentle tone guiding the words.

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want...He makes me lie down... in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul...'" Vienna's voice narrated softly. She paused, letting the words resonate in the quiet morning air before continuing, "'Even though I walk through... the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil... for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.'"

Ni-ki stopped just before the rooftop entrance, leaning quietly against the wall as he listened.

Vienna sat on the edge of the roof with the book in hand, her two pale legs swinging freely in the air. As she read, a tuft of stray hair fell before her eyes, and she attempted to brush it away but to no avail.

The early morning sun cast a soft glow on her, highlighting the delicate features of her face.

Ni-ki trooped over, his footsteps light against the rooftop surface, and sat down beside her without a word.

Vienna noticed his presence but didn't flinch. Instead, she quietly closed the textbook and placed it by her side.

The two ducklings, seemingly aware of Ni-ki's arrival, waddled over to him, nudging his legs as if in greeting.
