You were fifteen minutes late to breakfast in the morning.

A confession from someone that good looking was not even the last thing you needed in your life right now.

"I will not be deviated by this," you mumbled to yourself, stabbing the baby potato with your fork. "I do not need another person to put me down again."

People could not be trusted.

With that thought, you ate the last piece of your dinner with determination.

"Yes," you mumbled again and heard a kid on the other table ask her parents if you were talking to a ghost. "I never learn, do I?"

You heaved a sigh, shaking your head slightly before you got up from the table and walked to the cashier.

They always had the order noted down priorly so all you had to do was pay and leave.

But when you tried to hand her the money, the cashier shook her head.

"I-I can't accept it," she stuttered and you looked at her confusedly.

"Why? I have to pay for my meal. I just had-" You stopped, following her eyes that looked behind you.

Turning around, you saw Shubman Gill standing on the other side of the road outside the diner.

Oh, word spreads fast around his place, doesn't it?

You could probably think of a hundred and one curse words as you walked outside and straight to the most recent introduction in your life.

He was leaning against the side of his car, a small smile on his face as he watched you take quick steps towards him.

Shubman had been here only for the past few minutes. He knew this would be the time around which you'll finish dinner.

Despite the fact that you walked towards him like you wanted to punch him, he smiled. It'd still be in your hands and from you after all.

What he wouldn't do to hold your hand forever.

Two feet apart, like this morning, you stopped.

You pulled Shubman's palm up and placed the money on it. "I can pay for myself."

"Of course, sweetheart. You can pay for yourself," he said, still looking at you with a smile. "Why would you not?"

Staring at him blankly, you frowned a little. "Didn't you-"

You stopped yourself again, took a deep breath, took the money back from his still outstretched palm.

Walking back into the diner, you placed the money on the counter and waited a few seconds until the cashier took it and gave you the change which you put in the charity box beside.

Not cursing like you did the last time, you solemnly walked outside to Shubman's car.

You just embarrassed yourself, didn't you?

Looking around aimlessly for a moment, you swore internally before looking at him. "Sorry," you let out and were about to turn away.

"Not sure why but don't be," his voice stopped you.

You turned your head towards Shubman, your expression not really giving away anything. "Why?"

He looked into your eyes and you dared not look away.

"You shouldn't be," he said and you just stared back at him, not continuing the conversation and just walking away.
