Sunlight peeked through the curtains, hitting your face and making you turn around and snuggle into your closest source of warmth.
You stayed that way for a few minutes, one leg thrown over your personal body pillow who was already awake.
Then you turned around again, holding the arms that were around your waist and snuggling back.
"Good morning, beautiful," you felt butterfly kisses on the back of your neck, making you smile a little.
"Morning," you mumbled, eyes closed and still a bit sleepy. "How long have you been awake?"
"Around ten minutes," Shubman said, nuzzling his nose against the side of your face and planting a kiss on your cheek.
"Shubi, that tickles," you said with a small laugh, completely awake now.
Turning your head to face him, you got your morning kiss and a tight hug like you've been for the past few mornings.
Safe to say, you've officially moved into his room. Your room, actually. It's both of yours now.
Though Shahneel was pretty grumpy about the fact that your room wasn't close to hers anymore, she came around eventually. All it took was a hug from you.
You stayed in bed while Shubman did his morning routine.
He came out after a bath, fully dressed and opening the curtains to the terrace that was attached to the room.
Light rays passed through the glass doors, illuminating the room and your inert self.
"Could mornings get any better?" You said to yourself and rolled over, lying on your stomach.
Shubman leaned over to you once he was near the bed, kissing your cheek again.
It was 6 am when you woke up. You still liked waking up at the same time, though you wouldn't actually start getting ready until later.
"I've got something to do now but I'll be there for breakfast with you," he said with one knee resting against the mattress. "Will that be okay, baby?"
You nodded with one side of your face on the pillow, tangled within the comforter and looking like a blanket burrito.
"I love you," Shubman said and made sure to place a kiss on your lips.
"I love you too," you mumbled and watched as he left the room with another kiss to your forehead.
This wasn't something you noticed but he always left when you're getting ready in the morning, making sure you got your privacy.
Everything felt peaceful. This was the family you always wanted and now had. To be there for each other and feel loved and comfortable.
Shubman couldn't be happier in life.
You're all he never knew he needed to live. And he knows that now that he'd found you.
All he ever does is for you.
And at the same time, he made sure you weren't exposed to any of his shade in his line of work.
Maybe he should've known it was bound to happen someday.
Currently, Shubman was in his office, staring at the man in front of him with eyes that could pierce through his flesh.
He doesn't like it when people make mistakes.
So to hear that someone's been tailing his activities in the waterfronts recently, he was annoyed to say the least.
And the man he stood facing now was supposed to handle it. Obviously, seeing that he was here now, he has failed.
"You disappoint me," Shubman said, his voice lacking emotions. His face was void of any expression that could give away what he thought. "They tried to spy on my territory and ended up dead."
He spared a glance at the corpses behind on the other side of the room.
It didn't matter to him that merely a few millions were lost. But what if it could affect his name in the business, his notorious reputation?
He can't let people think that they could take something from him and get away with it alive.
"But you," Shubman said again while being handed a gun. "You disappoint me the most."
Pulling back the slide of the gun, he was ready to pull the trigger when the door opened.
"What!" He yelled to the man that froze halfway between the doors.
"It's Ms. Y/n," the man said, daring not to make eye contact.
Shubman stared at him, breathing heavily to a small degree because of the anger and, well, the yelling just now. He rarely slipped up like that.
Eyes closed, letting out an almost inaudible sigh, he calmed himself down before they opened again.
Momentarily poking his inner cheek with the tip of his tongue, he lowered the gun, throwing it away to one of the other men before he walked out.
You heard him clearly on the other side.
While it wasn't a secret what Shubman dealt with and how he did, you've never heard him raise his voice even slightly.
And it sounded terrifying, to be honest.
Okay.
Before he could make it out of the office, you blinked once and turned around slowly, picking up your pace as you walked away.
