LanLan was panicky and in deep thought all throughout the break. She was more silent than usual, and refused to leave her room, even taking meals inside. Both Riyuu and Mrs. Bai was very worried that she got traumatized by the incident. And kept persuading her to go to a psychiatrist.

How can LanLan even begin to explain that what was wrong wasn't her brain but her soul. She transmigrated here. This world was a novel. If she really said those, she might get locked up in a mental institution for real.

And so LanLan thought, and thought. And planned for the future. With the knowledge of the novel's events in her mind, she begins to plot how to avoid all her death flags. The novel will begin a year from now, and she must persuade Mrs. Bai to send her off to another country by then.

She knows just the way. In her past life she's heard all about foreign exchange students. Or rich students going abroad to study. In such a influential and wealthy family as the Bai, I'm sure sending her to an Ivy league school would not be much effort. She just need to be good enough to enter them.

Since LanLan wanted to major in Arts, she wanted to go to Yale or Julliard's. And the waiting list for those universities must be longer than the Amazon river. Being a Bai, she has the wealth and power to back her, so she just need to be disgustingly academically accomplished. And the biggest challenge of all, she has one year to accomplish it.

LanLan thought of a brilliant idea!

Riyuu was suddenly awoken when LanLan burst into his room. " What were you saying about that competition?" Riyuu looked at her bleary-eyed. " You mean that physics competition?" " Yeah that."

Riyuu looked at her confused. " But you said you weren't interested in it. "
" Can't I change my mind? Besides you're the one competing I just need to be an assistant right?" LanLan smiled at him prettily. " Okay fine, just get out and let me sleep." LanLan hurriedly went out.

Searching on Baidu (a Google like thing for China) she was finding major competitions that are happening in the country for this year. Olympics, nah, GM Plant, huh? Well that's interesting but nah, ooooohhhhh there's a cosplay convention, maybe I'll take a look, singing competitions, idol competitions, hmmm with this face and body she can be an idol, but she read a lot of cnovels then and knows how messy entertainment industry is so nah.

The search was not very fruitful. Maybe she'll ask about it when school starts. Atleast she's got that physics competition her brother is competing in. Wait, going back to baidu she realized she hasn't searched anything for world literature category.

" Ah hah! " LanLan exclaimed happily, she found an international competition for literature majors. Why didn't she think of it first? She hurriedly signed up for everything. Taking note that the schedules don't clash. One was poem reading, another was essay writing, another was specifically for English Literature, one was for Chinese literature (well she can study more for those.) One was a Quiz bee? Is that even international level? No matter if it's easy then she can win.

LanLan maintained a happy demeanour all day, calming Mrs. Bai's heart. Looks like her daughter was getting over the incident. If she only knew that LanLan was planning t actually leave home and that's why she was happy she would have been very sad instead.

" So, what do we need to do for this physics competition?" LanLan asks Ryu over dinner. " Well, I'm trying to study proton decay, essentially the physics competition is just a big research paper competition. "

"Proton decay?"

" Well yes, Proton decay is a hypothetical process in which a proton, a subatomic particle found in the nucleus of an atom, decays into other particles. This process is predicted by some theories of physics, such as Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) and Supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories (SUSY GUTs), which attempt to unify the strong, weak, and electromagnetic forces. According to these theories, protons are not absolutely stable and can decay into particles such as positrons (the antiparticle of electrons), photons, and neutrinos. The predicted half-life for proton decay is extremely long, on the order of 10^31 years or more, making it difficult to detect directly. However, scientists have been searching for evidence of proton decay using large detectors such as Super-Kamiokande-hey are you even listening?"

" You lost me at subatomic particle," Lanlan looked at him nervously " Am I supposed know this too as your assistant?"

" Lucky for you, I already knew you were not interested in physics. No, as my assistant you only need to do what I tell you to do."

" Oh, okay as long as it's not filled with jargon."

" Maybe I should just recruit other people."

"Yah no! I'm your sister, I can do this."

" You seem weirdly eager for this." Ryu fixed Lanlan with a quizzing look. Which she pretended not to see, taking a bite of the steak in front of her. " Why did you want to join me? You didn't want to do it in the beginning."

"Well, I just thought I'd best help you."

"Hmm."

" Really, gosh trust issues."

"Oh? You're learning a lot of internet lingo."

" We are teenagers brother, even though you act like an old mother."

" Yah! Who's an old mother!"

"Both of you finish your food!" said Mrs. Bai, they quietened down but shoot each other nasty looks.
"We aren't done" mouthed Ryu, LanLan just gave him a defiant look, and went back to eating.

This girl lah, I was worried about her. Looks like she's doing fine. Thought Ryu, glad his sister seemed to be much livelier. LanLan was already planning everything in her head, even searching up places to live by campus. Don't know how angry Ryu will be in the future.

LanLan played for a while in the holidays, while carefully making plans of her going abroad. She helped Ryu with the typing and correcting of the research paper, she was also the assistant in the experiment so she was busy everyday until school came.

The first competition day has finally arrived and the Physics research paper is also halfway done. LanLan smiles as she walks downstairs even humming. Ryu was so tired these days because he was the sole researcher for the project. Seeing energetic LanLan he really wished he did not recruit her. But what to do, this was his own sister, and the temper is even more unamanagable.

They both went to school in different moods.
