VARTAN TWO MONTHS LATER-
I stood alongside my brothers as we watched Henrietta introduce Ava to some of the big wigs in the art world, finally people are going to see her talent. No matter how many times I see her she never stops being the most beautiful thing I've ever seen- hair hung down her back in waves, ultramarine eyes lined dark, lips a pale pink, a light green sundress made her eyes and hair pop, a set of black wedges made her legs look longer and she had a joyful glow to her. We had all been unsure of how she would react to taking the life of the man who killed her parents and had put a price on her head more than once, but she sems so at ease now. Maybe be were wrong to think she was fragile.
"May I have your attention please," Henrietta called and looked around the room as she lopped her arms through Ava's. "If everyone will please follow us, we have one final piece to unveil."
Everyone followed the two women into a small room where two of Henrietta's staff flanked the only piece on display here that was covered by a red sheet. "Is everyone here?" the older woman mused and cast a look over her shoulder. "Looks like it. All right fellas."
When the cloth pooled on the floor my heart was in my throat, I see why Ava kept it a secret from us. The large canvas had been divided into three parts- the first was me behind the bar with a towel draped over one shoulder and a crate of glasses in hand, the second was Silvano standing in front of a bookshelf, eyes scanning over the spines of the tomes before him and the third was of Arik in his uniform standing in what looked like Silvano's apartment living room.
"My God," Silvano muttered at my side.
"Its....Amazing," Arik commented.
"They're the first time I met each of you," Ava informed coming to stop in front of us.
"Baby its...." I began but words escaped me as I stared at my brothers and I immortalized in paint like gods.
"Its beautiful Ragazza Dolce," Silvano finished for me. I wish I could have taken a picture of her face and how it lit up at our words. "Excuse me."
He placed a kiss on her head before making his way toward Henrietta. "I'm assuming he's gonna offer her some astronomical amount of money for it," Ava sighed following my youngest brother with her gaze.
"Oh most definitely," I agreed with a little smile. "I'm so proud of you Princess."
She gave me a beaming smile. "Thank you for coming for me that day," she whispered into my chest when she hugged me.
"Which one Baby?" I asked returning her hug,
"When my parents were killed and in France."
I chuckled softly. "Avalona, I'd go to the ends of the Earth if I had to. We all would."
That painting was hung over the fire place of the house in Oyster Bay where we all spend most of our time now that we no longer have the threat of Crawford Blackburn hanging over us. The exhibit at Starlight House had come over so well that Ava was starting to get commissions from all over; the dream her mother had passed down to her was finally coming true. As she started to make more works for our private collection I noticed she signed them with Avalona Avagyan-Tomasino.
