Two days of being on light duty and I was starting to go crazy, even I get tired of reading after a while. Wednesday morning I stepped out of my shower and caught sight of myself in the mirror over the sink to see the angry bruises on my face and side. I let out a sigh as brushed out my hair then padded into the living room wrapped in a towel when there was a knock on the door. I looked through the peephole and opened the door when I saw it was Silvano .
"Oh Darling," he muttered and gently touched my face causing me to wince a little. His touch hurt but the pain had lessened over the last two days.
"Come in," I said with a little smile and took his hand leading him inside.
"I am so sorry that I wasn't here," he muttered after closing the door. I stopped walking and turned, letting go of his hand so I could place mine on his cheek.
"Hon, you have nothing to apologize for."
His dual-colored eyes were sad as he looked down at me and I stood on my toes so I could press a tender kiss on his lips. His arms wrapped around me to draw me into a gentle hug pressing his lips to my forehead. "Can you help me get ready?" I asked and he pulled back looking down at me. "It's hard to put on clothes with this."
I held up my brace clad arm and he smiled a little. "Whatever you need Sweetheart."
He helped me put on my bra, tee shirt and jeans then I slipped on a pair of sandals before we locked up the apartment and headed down to his car. Our early lunch was at a trattoria that Silvano owned and the twenty something hostess sat us in a corner booth near the kitchen doors then batted her lashes at him as she handed us the menus. "Ciao Silvano!" an older man with dark brown hair that was streaked with snow white exclaimed as he approached with a large smile.
"Vincent always a pleasure to see you," Silvano replied returning the man's smile.
Dark brown eyes turned to me. "And who is this lovely lady?"
"This is Ava, my girlfriend." I looked at Silvano, I'd never imagined he would call me that.
"Its lovely to meet you Miss Ava."
"You too," I replied smiling at him.
"What can I get you two to drink?"
"Two waters and two glasses of Vino Blancho," Silvano told him and the older man nodded.
"Sure thing."
"I'm not supposed to drink alcohol with the medicine the doctor gave me," I commented after Vincent walked to get the drinks.
"I don't think one glass will hurt my Sweet Girl. Plus, it's a good way to celebrate."
"What are we celebrating exactly?"
He ran his tongue over his lips as he crossed his arms on the tabletop and scanned the room. "I would like you to move in with me," he finally said and my eyes grew wide.
"You what?"
"I want you to move in with me at my place in Oyster Baty. I want to have you with me always so that I can protect you."
I smiled a little and reached out my good hand to place it on top of his crossed arms causing him to turn his gaze to me. "I'm touched Silvano, truly I am but don't you think that would be moving to fast? I mean we have only known each other for close to a month."
He tilted his head and slowly took my hand into his placing a kiss on my knuckles. "Sweet girl, I can't imagine my life without you in it. Whenever I'm away from you I feel like a piece of me is missing." He ran a thumb across the top of my hand. "I want to give you the world Avalona. You deserve so much more than that apartment and working at the club."I couldn't piece together anything to say as I gazed at him; after all of these years I've never imagined myself having any type of life other than the one I have known since I was eighteen but here is this amazing and gorgeous man that's offering me the world, all I have to do is say yes. "But I have a job here," I commented.
"I can make sure you get to work, but if you decide that you don't want to work that is fine with me I will support you."
I chewed on my lip as I continued to gaze at him. "I have paintings of my mother's and my father's academic papers that I can't leave behind."
"I'll take care of it, I have a friend who deals in art and delicate documents. I can have them store the paintings and papers somewhere safe while we get a spot at the house ready for them."
I looked down at my hands, why does this man want me but my own family didn't? "Are you sure this is what you want Silvano?"
He nodded. "Darling, I have never been surer of anything in my life."
My eyes rose to meet his and gave a sheepish smile. "Then yes Silvano, I will move in with you."
