"please save yourself,"
you whisper in my ear,
"the fire has caught a hold of me,
and you shall not come near"
your eyes fill with tears
as you slowly step back,
walking deeper into the fire,
absorbing the impact
my brittle heart shatters
and scatters like glass
i can't let go ahold of you,
i can't let you pass
honeyed bloody hues danced
as they swallowed you whole
sinisterly counting seconds
for the catastrophe to unfold
i gaze at the blazing amber,
the situation—hauntingly dire
adrenaline invades my flesh,
as I step foot into the fire
"SHE HAS LOST HER MIND !"
the people around me told
they're right, i've lost my mind
but only to find my soul
the people are left bewildered
as the fire can't consume me whole
the fire on my skin can't overpower
the fire burning in my soul
as i walk towards you
into the depths of the heat
the fire questions itself
tasting bitter defeat
i reach for your hand
until our fingers intertwined
you fall into my arms
as relief pooled your mind
your tears of joy quenched
the fire that grew on your skin
as now a new flame of hope
is born from within
the fire dissolved into the air
as we glowed in glee
from the fire the people ignited,
you had finally broken free
don't set yourself on fire
to keep the people warm
fight for what's right
regardless of the norm
the people will always have
something or else to say,
don't take their words to your heart,
don't let them come in your way
let the fire in your soul
burn bright and fierce
use and tame your fire wisely
for someone's heart it may pierce
don't let your fire
set someone else ablaze
for some day, in the same fire
it could be you in their place
rather use your fire
to light the candles of hope
when the situation is dire
use the fire in your soul
