To overcome a hurdle, the first thing one has to do is change their mindset. Yeji was not only newly energized but had a resolution to get rid of this past and not let it control her thoughts and most importantly, her life.

It was the afternoon after her night out with Hyunjin. She came down the stairs and was instantly greeted by the tantalising aroma of the Korean cuisine her mom made.

"You are not working today?" She asked her mother who was busy in the kitchen.

"I took the day off. I wanted to spend time with you." Her mom grinned.

Yeji was touched and started to feel somewhat guilty. "Mom," She hugs her mother, cradling her shoulder. "I'm sorry."

Her mother gently caresses her cheeks. "Promise me you will come to me no matter what happens... and not suffer alone."

"I promise." Yeji was almost tearing up by now. "I'll just use the washroom." She excuses herself.

Once they ate to their fill, Yeji and her mom decided to watch the television. Yeji sat on the ground and her mom on the couch, where she could easily oil Yeji's hair.

"Oh my goodness, your hair is so dry and damaged." She hit her head with the comb. "Don't you ever oil it?"

"You should have heard the remarks I got after I went to school with oily hair, mom." She laughed just from remembering.

"No, but you should apply it at night then wash it in the morning."

"Ok mom." Yeji said lazily as she browsed the titles of movies from the 90s which her mom loved watching.

"Did you talk to your brother?" Yeji's mom suddenly asked.

"No. He left like 20 missed calls. I'm not mentally prepared to get scolded by him."

"He's worried about you... just call him when you are free."

Yeji felt ecstatic as her mom's fingers ran through her scalp skillfully massaging each point with just enough pressure to relieve all her stress. "Wah I love you mom." She almost whispered gratefully.

"Schools tomorrow. Are you going?" Her mom asked remembering how Lia had shared with her what had happened.

"Mom, isn't this school too expensive anyways? Can I change to a different school?" She turned and suggested with puppy eyes.

"It is. But your brother and I earn enough to afford a private school education for you." Her mom finished the oiling therapy by tying Yeji's hair up in a bun.

"So... I guess I'll just go." She said with a dejected pout.

"Listen sweetheart," her mom took Yeji's hand into hers. "Running away isn't always the option. Face them bravely. If it's too hard on you, I can always get involved. Don't be afraid to tell me. Okay?"

Yeji nodded.

To interrupt their sweet mother-daughter moment, her phone chimes. It was a message from:

Can I come over?
                                       ~Hwang Hyunjin

When she left him on read, he calls her. "We met just yesterday... and we are going to meet again tomorrow. Why do you need to come over?" Yeji began lecturing him without even greeting. He gets a little needy sometimes.

"But I...." he paused and sighed. "I don't know... I just want to see you again."

The night when he dropped her back home, he insisted to stay but was utterly rejected by Yeji. Her mom was home, there was no way.
