Beyond the spectrum of Friendship, one could say that Bangchan and Ryujin were literal soulmates. Two people who simply matched each other's need. Ryujin was brought up like a princess in her house, despite the casual scolding, her parents never said no to anything she wanted. However, what truly spoiled her was Bangchan always being there. Her first thought when she needed someone was always him.
Ryujin's mere existence brought life to Bangchan. Studying, studying and studying was all he ever knew. Attaining academic achievement became the only thing expected from him. Then like the ray of sunshine came Ryujin. All he did was offer her a shoulder to cry on when she was sad and just like that she made herself a place in his heart. She was sassy, confident and most of all, fun to talk to. If a person made him feel the tranquility and excitement music brought him, then it would be Ryujin.
Impulse decisions, broken heart, swollen eyes, Ryujin was truly going through it when she decided to finally call back her friends.
"Shin Ryujin!" Chaeryeong was the first one to yell, "What the hell took you so long to reply? I'm dying for an update." It hadn't even been 24 hours and Chaeryeong was already complaining.
Lia joined the call.
Then after a few minutes, Yeji joined too.
"Now that everyone is here, let's start." Ryujin heaved preparedly. "So, I have a good news and a bad news. Which one should I start with?"
After a few minutes of the girls arguing on what to choose, Ryujin decided to share the good news first, "I'm dating." She spilled casually.
"Omg! I told you it will go well." Yeji was the most excited. She too had news to share with them.
"Congratulations, Shin Ryujin! I hope you don't forget who was there for you when you didn't have a boyfriend." Chaeryeong teased.
"Ryujin, I wanna be happy for you but I'm getting anxious since you mentioned bad news. Now tell us." Lia's sixth sense was telling her something was off and surely was she right.
"I kinda got rejected? Without even confessing."
Confused, the other girls made weird noises speaking over each other.
"That stupid nerd told me to forget about the kiss." Ryujin almost yelled, the feelings of the previous day resurfacing. "And that he's not ready to date."
"Wait, wait! So who the fuck are you dating?"
"Felix." Ryujin admitted timidly with a tinge of guilt evident in her voice. It all happened on an impulse. Felix had called her the previous night. After a long chat with him, things just clicked and she thought that he was the perfect man. The type every girl dreamed of.
Love will come along the way, let's just explore the relationship first. She told herself. Bangchan's case was something out of her control and what she needed the most then was a sense of reassurance. She wanted to be busy dating so that she didn't notice the heartache, it was throbbing and constant.
"You guys think he could tell I was disappointed?" Ryujin asked the girls after letting out all the tea. "I don't want him to know."
"Ryujin, are you sure you didn't misunderstand things? How could Chan say that?" Genuinely perplexed by the way things turned out for Ryujin, Yeji asked. She was almost certain Ryujin and Bangchan would end up together after she confessed.
"I don't know. I was too ahead of myself and you all fed into my delusions. I blame it all on you." Ryujin jokingly accused her friends.
"Hey, all that aside, aren't you being a little cruel to Felix?" Lia asked seriously.
