Chapter 10- Memories

Varian POV

"Hey dad
I need to ask you something very important about (Y/N)"
I asked and he turned his head to face me

"Whatever I can do to help son"

"What can you tell me about (Y/N)
She has been acting very strange recently and I'm getting worried"
I asked

"Son...
Today is (Y/N)'s birthday and...
Maybe she is remembering the times she used to spend with her parents"
Dad said and placed a hand on my shoulder

"Wait-
Does she know today is my birthday as well?
I haven't mentioned it to her"

"Neither have I"

"Oh Okay Thanks
I should get back to decoding the scroll
Bye"
I said and started walking away

"Alright
Happy birthday son
We'll celebrate in the evening"
Dad said and got back to harvesting

I knocked oh (Y/N)'s door
"Hey (Y) are you okay?"

"Yeah, why?"
I heard her voice say

"Its almost 17:00 and you haven't left your room to eat or something"
I said

"I just...Overslept! Yeah!"
I knew she had lied

"Alright....You know where to find me if you need anything"
I said and then walked away heading to the lab

(Y/N) POV

I decided to get out of my room and get ready for the day
I mean it is my birthday and all

I tried to open my door but my body refused to do so
So I just leaned on the door and slid to the floor

My parents never really celebrated my birthdays....
....I wonder what they would think of me now

Wait- UGGHHH Here I go again with those stupid thoughts!

My parents never really....loved me
They never gave me anything
And never even said I Love You

And I wonder if the day they pushed me out of my burning house...
....were they actually trying to save me?....

Im being unfair to Varian
Why does he deal with my shit
He knows I have been lying....
And the fact that I keep lying isnt right

I stood up and grabbed a muffin that Varian brought to me earlier
And placed a candle on top of it

My birthday wish will be...
I will stop being distant to Varian
He deserves to know
And I WILL become a better person

Varian POV

"Aaaaannd Its finished! What do you think Reddiger?"
I swear he had the most IMPRESSED look I have ever seen!

I created a necklace for (Y/N) as her birthday present

It was made of different color cristals
And I used the same machine I used to impress Cassandra at the 
Science Exposition

I really hope this cheers her up
The sun will set in an hour!
I better hurry

When I was walking through the hallway
I heard muffled singing?

Yup
She is definately singing
And she is singing happy birthday to herself...

"Happy birthday to me...Happy birthday to me"
She was singing beautifully and smoothly

I quietly enter her room and lean against a wall
She was sitting on her bed with a muffin on her hand
And she was looking outside of the window

"Happy birthday dear (Y/N)....
Happy birthday to mAAAA VARIAN?!?"
She yelled as she saw me leaning against a wall with my hands behind my back
She almost dropped her muffin

"Hey Varian! What are you doing here?"
She asked a little shaken up

"I heard that today was your birthday
Why didn't you tell us?"
I asked but she didnt respond

"Oh right! you don't like talking about your past, sor-"

"No no I can tell you
I want to stop acting like that"
(Y/N) said, and then she took a deep breath

"My parents never celebrated anything with me
They were never caring
Never saw then smile, laugh, hug me 
Never had a real coversation with me
So on my birthday, I would just celebrate in my room
ANd I never told you because I am used to doing it alone"
(Y/N) said and looked away

I held her hand
"Well that stops today"
I smiled at her and she smiled back

"Here let me light th-"

"NO! DON'T!"
She yelled suddenly
Fear was visible in her voice

"I am not very fond of fire"
She apologized  

"Oh! Im sorry"
I apologized quickly

"And I am guessing this is the right time for gifts"
I showed her the necklace and handed it to her

She took it and looked at all of the crystal
I could see a bit of tears on her eyes
ANd she just hugged me

"Thank you! Varian I love it!"
She let go of me 

"Let me help you with that"
I grabbed the necklace from her
She pulled her hair up and I cliped the necklace around her neck

"Varian...Im sorry for being distant
I promise on my soul that I will NEVER keep anything from you again"
She said
I leaned in closer and closed the space between us

She wrapped her arms around my neck and I wrapped mines around her waist

"Son, Its time to celebrat-...
.....
Am I interruping something?"
Dad asked as he walked inside the room

"Not at all dad"
I said and pulled away from her

"Wait-
WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT VARIAN'S BIRTHDAY?!"
She turned to look at me shocked

"Uhh surprise!"
