~Rizo~

BZZ BZZ BZZ

"Hello?" I answered.

"I know you at the site, right?" Kai asked.

"Yes, I'm here," I said, rolling his eyes with an attitude.

"Bitch, don't give me no fucking attitude,"

"Who the fuck are you calling a bitch?"

"You, mother fucker! Don't play with me right now! Calm yo ass the fuck down! I don't know what you think this is,"

Rizo smacked his teeth and slouched in the seat of his car.

"He's supposed to be testifying against me next month. He's one of the witnesses that night. I'm not sure what he knows, but I can't risk that chance," Kai stressed.

"You can't just have me threaten him or something?" I asked.

"No! This is the only option. I want that nigga gone. Make sure he's not breathing. If I find out he's alive, you won't be," he said, hanging up the phone.

Kai's words sent a chill down my spine. I had always known that Kai was involved in some shady business, but I never imagined it would come to this. I never thought I would be involved in something so heinous. But here I was, standing in the middle of a dark alley, contemplating taking someone's life. But with Kai, there was no peaceful solution. It was either do as he says or face the consequences.

I couldn't help but wonder what this witness knew. What did he see that night? What information did he have that could potentially incriminate Kai? I knew that I couldn't take that risk. Kai's words echoed in my head, 'If I find out he's alive, you won't be.' I couldn't let that happen.

But could I really go through with this? Could I really take someone's life? The weight of my decision was crushing me. I felt sick to my stomach and my hands were shaking. I knew that if I didn't do it, Kai would find someone else who would. And that person might not hesitate like I was.

I took a deep breath and walked towards the witness's house. My heart was racing as I approached the door. I didn't even know this man's name, yet I was about to end his life. I knocked on the door and waited, my mind racing with thoughts of what I was about to do.

The door opened and I saw a middle-aged man standing in front of me. He looked surprised to see me and before he could say anything, I pulled out my gun and shot him. The sound of the gunshot echoed through the quiet neighborhood and I quickly ran away, my heart pounding in my chest.

As I drove away, I couldn't believe what I had just done. I had taken a life. A life that I knew nothing about. A life that had a family and loved ones. But in that moment, all I could think about was Kai's words, 'Make sure he's not breathing.'

I knew that I had crossed a line that I could never come back from. I had become a murderer. And for what? Money? Power? I couldn't even remember anymore. All I knew was that I had made a grave mistake, and there was no turning back now.

As I sat in my car, trying to calm my racing thoughts, I couldn't help but think about the consequences of my actions. What if I got caught? What if Kai found out that I hesitated and decided to take matters into his own hands? I had opened a door that I couldn't close, and I knew that I would have to live with the guilt and fear for the rest of my life.

But as I drove away from the scene, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. The witness was gone, and with him, any chance of Kai getting caught. I had done what Kai had asked of me, and now I was free to go about my life as if nothing had happened. But deep down, I knew that I would never be able to forget what I had done. And that was a burden that I would have to carry for the rest of my life. After all, the witness knew who killed my brother.

I took a nap on the couch and woke up still feeling sleepy. I checked my phone and I had three missed calls from Kai. Rolling my eyes at the phone, I called him back hoping for an apology.

"Rylan!" Kai shouted.

"What?"

"How come you haven't been answering the phone?"

"I was asleep. What do you want?"

"I'm sorry for my behavior, okay. I'm so sorry. I was just upset and going through a lot. Can you forgive me?"

"I appreciate your apology, Kai...It's okay. I just wish you held your composure,"

"Me too. I'm sorry, baby girl,"

"Where are you?"

"I'm at home. Why?"

"I wanna come by and see you...can I do that?"

"I guess you can," I said, cracking a smile.

I couldn't stay mad at Kai for long. He always knew how to make me laugh and feel better, even when he was the one who upset me. I quickly got dressed and waited for him to arrive. As soon as he walked through the door, I could see the genuine remorse in his eyes. He apologized again and we talked about what had been bothering him. I realized that he was going through a tough time with his family and it was causing him to act out. I could relate, as I had been through a similar situation before. I listened to him and offered words of comfort and support. We spent the rest of the day cuddled up on the couch, watching our favorite movies and just enjoying each other's company. By the end of the day, I could tell that Kai was feeling much better and our relationship was stronger because of our open and honest communication. From that day on, I made a promise to always be there for Kai, no matter what he was going through. And he made a promise to always communicate with me and never let his personal problems affect our relationship. Our nap on the couch turned into a turning point in our relationship, bringing us closer together and teaching us the importance of forgiveness and understanding.
