Rizo spent hours by the lake thinking about the guilt of knowing Kai killed his brother. He just knew it was bad! He had to let it be known, but if he did, he's also going down for killing one of the witnesses and threatening Kacey to disappear and being involved in Kai's events. A cop—a dirty cop involving a troubled man into his shit! He got in his car and sped off to Rylo's house. He texted his siblings to let him know he was on the way to spill the truth!
The sun was beginning to set as Rizo revved the engine of his car, the sound echoing through the quiet streets. His heart raced, not just from the speed but from the weight of the secret he carried. Racing to his brother Rylo's house, he felt a mix of urgency and dread. Once he pulled into the driveway, he quickly texted Rylan, asking her to meet him there. He knew he couldn't face this alone.
As Rizo stepped into Rylo's house, he was met with a chorus of concerned voices. His sister, Rylan, stood with worry etched across her face, while Rylo leaned against the kitchen counter, arms crossed and brow furrowed, his expression wary. Pablo, the family friend who had been a constant throughout their lives, was pacing in the living room, trying to rein in his own anxiety.
"What's wrong, Rizo?" Rylo demanded, his voice low but tense.
Rizo took a deep breath, the air thick with tension. He hesitated, locking eyes with each of them, the moment stretching until it felt suffocating. Finally, the truth came crashing out of him like a wave. "I know who killed RJ..."
The room fell silent. Rylo's expression hardened, while Rylan gasped, her hand covering her mouth in disbelief. "What are you talking about?" she whispered, her eyes darting to Pablo for support.
"It's Kai," Rizo said, the name lingering in the air like poison. "He killed RJ."
Fury ignited in Rylan, her voice rising. "What do you mean? How do you know that?"
Rizo clenched his fists, the memory of the bathroom conversation with Kai flooding back. "At your birthday party... in the bathroom, Kai told me. RJ owed him money—$150,000. Kai felt cornered, and he killed him."
"You're kidding, right?" Rylan shouted, tears welling in her eyes. "Why didn't you say anything sooner?"
"I was scared," Rizo admitted, shaking his head. "He forced me to do his dirty work, to help him cover it up. I was terrified he would come after me next."
Pablo, who had been quietly processing the information, stepped forward, his voice steady. "Rizo, this is serious. We need proof. Do you have anything?"
Rylo's expression shifted from rage to determination. "I have something that might help. Pablo has footage of Kai and Dez hiding the car that was used in the drive-by shooting."
"Wait, what?" Rylan asked, her voice trembling. "You knew? And you didn't tell us?"
"It wasn't my place," Pablo replied, his tone firm but calm. "I thought it was just suspicions. I didn't know for sure until now. If we have that footage, we can go to the police, we can expose him."
"We've been trying to tell yo stupid ass anyway, but you didn't listen!" Rylo yelled.
"Who the fuck are you calling stupid?" Rylan yelled back.
"You! Why the fuck you think Kacey is gone, huh? He fucking threatened her to move away and lose all contact with you! The witness who clearly saw who shot RJ is dead! Kai involved in this trial is t just no fucking coincidence! Brittany has been trying to convince you that Kai was crooked! Open your fucking eyes, Rylan!" Rylo stressed.
Rylan shook her head as she ran off crying.
Rizo looked at Rylo, who had gone pale at the revelation. "You really think they'll act on it?"
