Maya wanted to gently hold her again, but Carina pushed back.
Maya turned on a nightlight to see Carina.

"Maya I..."

"You don't want to be held?
Okay, no problem.
Just know that I'm here for you."

Maya gave her time and space to talk.
She had let her know that she was there for her and didn't want to put any pressure on her.

She just hoped she hadn't crossed a line after all. However, she had not noticed anything, Carina had not indicated this even when she asked.

She felt guilty that she had done something wrong, but she didn't want to show it.
