the talk

The brunette took a deep breath, closing her eyes as she knocked on the door, already imagining the worst case scenario. What if she was reading too much into it? What if she just wanted him to like him, but he didn't feel that way at all?

She opened her eyes again when she heard the sound of the door opening, squeezing the portrait in her hands tighter. "We need to talk," she said confidently, only leaving the male in the door confused.

"About what?" He asked. Izzy's eyes widened when she realized it wasn't Hyunjin's voice. She looked up at him, shutting her mouth when she saw Felix in the door. "Shit, I thought you were Hyunjin," she sighed in relief. "He isn't here," he informed her. "What happened?"

She hesitated, looking down on the floor, trying to sort out her thoughts before she spoke again. Felix and Hyunjin were best friends. They lived together, there was no way he wouldn't have the answers she needed, right?

"Lix, does Hyunjin like me?" She asked straight up without any metaphors or word plays. "What- Why are you suddenly asking me that? How would I know- I mean-" he started panicking, making her sigh again. There was no way he would be acting this way if it wasn't true. "Do you know where he is?"

"I am not sure," he admitted. "He did mention something about school though, so maybe he went into his art studio? The teachers let him be there even at night."

"Thanks, lix. I'll get going now," she nodded to him with a small smile, turning around. However, he grabbed her hand, stopping her again. "Before you go, could you do something for me, please?"

"Of course, what's up?"

"If you manage to find him, can you maybe keep him outside for a while? I want to invite Laska over, but it would be too awkward if he was here too," he explained, making her chuckle. She nodded to him, assuring him she will try her best to keep him far from the dorm. "Good luck with your girl," she winked at him before finally leaving.

The brunette ran back to school, still holding onto the portrait. The longer she was looking for him the more she was thinking she should have just given it to Felix, but a part of her wanted to give it back to him herself.

"Do you not want me to find you so much?" She mumbled as she walked out of the school building. She ran through all the floors, and made sure she looked twice in each classroom, but he was nowhere to be seen.

She almost gave up and just went back home when she finally heard the voice. "Aren't you cold running around just in that shirt?" She turned around, breathing out when she saw him standing on the side just looking at her.

"How long have you been just standing there?"

"I was sitting here when you ran inside, I was wondering what you've been looking for," he answered, his eyes falling on the paper in her hands. "Ah, I see," he mumbled, jumping down from the small wall next to the stairs.

She walked over to him, not saying anything, which only made him more worried. He had no idea what was going on though her head or what she was going to say, and that scared him.

"I think that's mine," he spoke quietly, reaching his hand for the drawing. Izzy moved her hand further from him as if she was trying to protect the piece from him. "Somehow, I actually think it's supposed to be mine," she proclaimed. Hyunjin looked her in the eyes, unable to argue with her. She looked like a child who's toy was being stolen.

"Alright, keep it," he agreed, nodding. "I would probably give it to you one day anyway."

"Would you? Or would you try to keep it away from me for as long as possible?"

He sighed. This wasn't just about the drawing, and he knew it. This was about something else.

"Well, would you accept it if I gave it to you?" He turned the question against her, making her shut up again. "I don't know," she mumbled. "Maybe."

"That isn't really convincing," he shook his head, turning around. She still wasn't sure what she wanted to tell him as there were too many thoughts in her head, but she knew she needed to say something. She couldn't just let him go.

She grabbed his arm, stopping him before he could even start walking away. She noticed a sign of a smirk on his face and scoffed immediately. For the first time in a while she knew exactly what was going on through his head.

"Wanna go for a walk and talk?" He asked as she let go of him.

"About what?"

"You know exactly what we need to talk about."

"Maybe I don't," she shrugged, slowly starting to walk. "I am just a class E kid after all."

"Oh shut up," Hyunjin rolled his eyes, catching up on her. "You are just someone who for some reason wants to throw away all their intelligence just to be feared by the whole school or something."

"You think I want to be feared? By the whole school?"

"Well don't you?"

"I don't think I ever wanted anything less than that," she proclaimed, glancing at him to see what he was thinking.

Izzy—original plan was to not update this for a while and just write a lot but I did have a bit of a writing block recently so I just decided to not make you wait for too long and just put this out there
