_PAINS 

Suddenly the door flew open and the room was filled with people Elodie, Astrid, Hugo and Mr. Dante were all standing there and I could feel their eyes on me

"You little brat Where did you go?" Elodie yelled

I looked down at my feet unable to meet her gaze

"What a beauty she is," Mr. Dante said

"Enough of that," Elodie snapped "Let's get down to business" She grabbed my arm and pulled me into the room, slamming the door behind us

"Sign these documents" she said thrusting a stack of papers into my hands

"Can I at least read through them first?"

"Elodie, I don't have all day!" Mr. Dante yelled, his voice booming through the room

"Just sign the papers already" Elodie shouted at me

I felt like a trapped animal and without thinking I signed my name on the dotted line

"Good," Elodie said

"It was a pleasure doing business with you Just know that this doesn't clear your debt,"  Mr. Dante

"I'll do everything in my power to pay you back I promise."Hugo said

"I'll be back soon to collect what you owe me very soon," Mr. Dante said and then he turned and walked out the door

Elodie turned to me her eyes burning with anger She grabbed me by the arm and dragged me into the kitchen She put a knife in the fire and it began to glow red hot

"How dare you try to run away?"

"I'm sorry!" I cried

"You can tell me that later,"

She removed the hot knife from the fire and I felt my blood run cold She tore my clothes and pressed the knife against my back I let out a scream of pain, but it was drowned out by her cruel laughter

She pressed the knife harder and I screamed in agony She stopped and looked at me her face twisted with cruelty

"This is just the beginning If you ever try to run away again I'll cut off your head." She turned and left the kitchen leaving me alone and in pain

Alina walked over to me and gently took my hand"Let me take you to your room"

I allowed her to lead me to my room and I sat down on the bed my body shaking with pain and fear

"I don't understand why my mum would do this I'm so sorry."

I couldn't speak

"I'll go get you some ointment" she said but I shook my head

"It's okay I can manage" I said

Alina looked at me "Are you sure?"

I gave her a weak smile and nodded "I'll be fine"

Alina hesitated but then she left the room closing the door behind her I let out a sob tears streaming down my face

"I don't want to feel this pain anymore" I sobbed as exhaustion and pain overtook me I lay down on the bed and closed my eyes I drifted off to sleep

The next morning I woke up feeling refreshed and renewed The pain was gone and my wound had healed leaving only a faint scar It was as if my words had come true  the pain had vanished overnight

I got up and took a shower enjoying the feeling of the warm water on my skin Afterwards I cleaned the entire house scrubbing and washing until it was sparkling As I finished my chores

I went upstairs, changed into my uniform and headed back downstairs. "Where are you going?" Elodie asked, her brow furrowed

"I'm going to school"

"My dear, you better stay in this house and clean it from top to bottom," Astrid said as she littered the floor with dirt and dust"It's a mess in here."

"But I just cleaned that place Why would you do that?"

"Imogen, dear you won't be going to school for a while" Elodie said

"Why not?"

"You might try to run away again," she replied

"I won't!" I cried, tears welling up in my eyes. "Please let me go!"

"Go change your clothes and clean this place up I've got plenty of clothes for you to wash" She walked away leaving me alone in the mess I sat on the floor tears streaming down my face

"I'm going to miss my test today," I whispered to myself

Just as I was finishing cleaning the floor Seraphina burst in her muddy boots leaving a trail of dirt behind her

"Seraphina, what are you doing? Why would you do that? I just finished cleaning!"

"Oh, sorry," she said feigning innocence "I didn't see you there" She walked over to the kitchen and poured herself a cup of coffee spilling some on the floor as she did so

"You'll have to clean it again when you're done I've got a bunch of clothes for you to wash, and I'm hungry too." She walked into her room not bothering to even look back at the mess she had made

I couldn't cry anymore Instead I sit on the floor laughing uncontrollably But this wasn't a laugh of joy  it was a laugh of pain

Three weeks had passed and Elodie is yet to give me  permission to return to school I was cleaning the kitchen when suddenly I felt a wave of nausea wash over me I ran to the bathroom and collapsed on the floor vomiting into the toilet I felt weak and dizzy and I could barely move

I lay on my bed trying to make sense of what was happening to me My head was spinning and I felt dizzy and weak As I closed my eyes I heard my mother's voice in my head

🕊️"I remember when I got pregnant with you I was vomiting all the time, and I was so dizzy and tired. I missed my period and I went to the doctor That's when they told me I was pregnant I was so happy"🕊️

I sat up I hadn't had my period in a while could I be pregnant? No that was impossible I was only 16 years old  how could I be pregnant? The thought terrified me I let out a scream a primal cry of fear and disbelief I couldn't believe this was happening to me..............
