Maenya POV

Rhae and I were pouring the wine for the small council when Otto delivered some disturbing news.

Once I had entered the small council chambers I had noticed Otto looking at me funny. I could decipher what the look meant, though I could tell he was planning something and that it had something to do with me.

Not only that but my father had been acting jumpy around me, flinching whenever I look his way, cowering at my gaze.
Truth be told I thought I hid my hatred for him rather well.
After all I haven't said anything to him, never threatened him.
So why now did he act like the stranger itself had come to take him once I walk in the room.

His favouritism for Rhaenyra grew, she was always a daddies girl, they would spend they days in the garden, with me always watching from the window.

"Before we begin, your grace, I have a report I feel compelled to share. Last night Prince Daemon bought out one of the pleasure houses on the street of silk to entertain officers of the city watch and others friends of his. He toasted prince Baelon, styling him... 'the heir for a day'"

It felt like a punch to the gut.

Daemon. Who'd held me whilst I weeped over my mother and who'd always picked me, always reminding me that I was not lesser Targaryen or Valyrian because I didn't have a dragon.
Daemon who'd always chosen me.

Has now declared that my and my family's suffering was a perfect opportunity to celebrate his own rise.

Another load of emptiness bloomed in my chest.

Otto continued
"I corroborated this report with three separate witnesses. The evening was by  all accounts a...celebration."

How dare he.

How dare he
