𝔐y skin burns, prickling as the fog caresses my skin.

Cato, despite being tired, has hauled Prim up, slinging her over his back as he takes off. Anika and Finnick aren't far behind, outpacing us as they lead us away from the dense wall of fog. I bring up the rear, the panic palpable in the air. I swear I can taste it.

"Hurry, Cato!" I call after him, knowing that he's still tired from almost dying. The ground beneath us is covered in vines and undergrowth, which makes it hard to place our feet. Soon Prim is awake, and Cato sets her down, grabbing onto her arm and pulling her along behind him. With no one on his back, he's quicker.

Poor Prim is disorientated, having still been half asleep, though she copes well, running and huffing as we head out of the way.

Tendrils snake forward, grasping for us, tearing at our skin and clothes. It burns, but not like fire or heat, instead like chemicals. It burrows into our skin like a tick, and there's nothing that can protect us.

Finnick and Anika are our guides, dodging through it to try and find the best path out of there. Every so often, one of them will shout encouragement back to us. I'm lucky that I've had Geare shouting at me for months to be fast and to keep my stamina up, because I think that is the only way I manage to keep up with Cato as we sprint from the fog.

The fog is getting closer and denser, barely a hundred metres away.

"Come on, Prim." Cato is urging her faster, though Prim is tripping and stumbling over the vines.

"I can't." She's crying, and yelping whenever the fog spits acid further towards her.

"Yes you can." Cato throws me his sword, hauling Prim back up and over his shoulders, both of us skidding down an embankment after Finnick and Anika. They break the vines, leaving a trail for us as they yell about something to each other. I can't hear them, too focused on the tendrils of the fog that are trying to catch onto my legs.

"Water." Anika shouts back at us, as we begin a diagonal path back towards the Cornucopia and the water. I'm not sure if it will help or just spread the acid, but it's the best thing for us to do.

My legs are beginning to feel stiff, like something is locking them up, but I hurry to catch up. I fall, rolling, but manage to get up and keep going. Wincing, I grind out a pained yelp, and Cato turns to me in an instance.

"Prim, run to Finnick." He shoves Prim forwards, as she struggles to right herself, but the girl obliges. "Alright, Mitz."

"Cato, go, I'm alright." I continue to scrabble down to him, but my legs continue to lock. Cato hauls me up and over his shoulders gently, before taking off running. "Cato."
