Chapter 15: Wannabe Competition

"We're in the middle of something Shadow." SNT remarked a bit annoyed.

Shadow crossed his arms and grunted. "You two are trespassing in MY home." "You live here?" Rookie asked hesitantly. "You got a problem with that!?" Shadow walked towards Rookie. "No!" "Good. Now I would like to have a word with SNT about you. Alone." "Why can't you tell us right now?" SNT said. "Fine! I don't think you should be dating him." SNT was shocked. "Why?!" "Because there is obviously someone better than him for you." Shadow was clearly talking about himself. "What is that supposed to mean?" Rookie wiped the remaining tears off of his face. "It means that you should leave." Shadow went close to Rookie." "Shadow!" SNT put herself in between them. "Get out of the way SNT. I don't want you to be here when I force him to leave." "He's not leaving at all!" Shadow tried to walk past SNT but she kept blocking his way. "Why are you protecting him! He's just a nobody who doesn't even belong in our Dimension!" "That's not true! He's a hero who saved the world with me!" "He shouldn't be dating you! I should!" Shadow blurted out. It went silent. Shadow suddenly teleported away. "Shadow! What do you mean by that!" SNT called out to Shadow. There was no response. "I guess I know why he's been acting colder to people than usual." Rookie said out loud. "He is?" SNT thought back and realized how mean Shadow acted whenever she brought Rookie up to him. "Does he have feelings for me?" "I think him saying he should be dating you would answer that question." SNT gasped. "Shadow to! Great! First Amy and Sonic, now Shadow! Do all of my friends have a crush on me!" "Do you really want an answer to that." Rookie quipped. SNT sighed. "Now how are you suppose enjoy this trip? Most of my friends hate you." She sat down on the ground. "No they don't. They just need to process us dating." Rookie comforted her. "I worked really hard to try and make this visit as inviting as possible!" "It's been pretty inviting so far." SNT smiled. She stood back up. "Hah. I thought you were the one who needed to be comforted." Rookie laughed. "I guess we should continue our date then." "Really!? After what happened? I'm not complaining, let's just go somewhere else."
SNT and Rookie exited the forest. SNT led Rookie into a small flower field surrounded by small hills. Rookie sat down on a bed of flowers. "I hope Shadow didn't freak you out too badly." S asked. "Don't worry. I basically talk to Shadow everyday because of Gadget." SNT picked up a flower and put it on Rookie's ear. "Have you just been showing me your favorite places in your Dimension?" Rookie asked. "If I was, we'd have no time to sit down." S said. She held Rookie's hand. "I'm getting a little hungry. Got any chili dog stands around?" Rookie said. "We'll eat when we get home. Vanilla's making something for you that I know you'll love." SNT answered. SNT put a matching flower on her ear. "When are we exactly going to your house?" "As soon as Vanilla texts me." SNT checked her communicator. "Hopefully it's soon. I forgot to eat breakfast." Rookie's stomach growled almost as if it was proving his point. "Good news for your stomach, Vanilla's done! This field isn't too far from my home. Me, Cream and Amy go here to pick flowers sometimes." They started to head home.
They were running when Shadow appeared again. "SNT do you really think you've made the right choice? I mean, the love of your life could be right in front of you right now!" Shadow went in front of SNT. SNT turned around to Rookie. "Hm. You're right." "Let's keep going." Rookie said. "I was talking to her. Not you!" SNT picked up Rookie and started flying. Shadow continued following them. "Just give me a chance! I am the ultimate lifeform! What does he have that I don't!" "I'm willing to talk this out with you another time. Just leave me alone right now." SNT offered. Shadow ignored her. "How about this, We duel it out! Winner gets to be your boyfriend." SNT started to fly higher up but Shadow used his air shoes to fly up to them. "What do you say, Rookie? Or are you too scared to face off against me because you know I'll win." He grinned. They reached the house and they landed in front of the door. "Hey! You better not go inside!" Shadow warned. The Duo went inside anyways. Shadow just stared at them. As the door closed in front of him clenching his fists and gritting his teeth. "Welcome back you two!" Cream greeted. "Hi Cream!" SNT said. "Does Mr. Shadow want to join us to?" Cream asked. "No! We shouldn't be around each other right now." Rookie said. He looked around the house. The place was nice and cozy. The lights seem to get brighter as the sky grew darker. "Your room is the first one in the hallway." Vanilla said. Rookie sniffed the air. "Is that salmon?" "Why yes. We went fishing with Big earlier. I heard it was your favorite." Rookie turned to SNT and she smiled.
They all headed into the kitchen and started eating. SNT looked down. "Is something wrong SNT?" Vanilla asked. "Shadow's jealous of Rookie." "I'm sure he just needs some time alone." Vanilla said. "Just like Amy." SNT mumbled. "So what do you do in your dimension Mr. Rookie?" Cream asked. "Well in my Dimension I live in a city. Me and my brother hang out with Sonic, Tails and all of your other friends. Well he does mostly." "SNT talked about Eggman almost taking over your world when she went there! That must've been really scary!" Cream said. "Chao Chao!" Cheese said, almost dropping their tiny fork. "It was. But I never gave up hope that we'd win one day." "How inspiring." Vanilla clapped her hands softly. Rookie was the first one to finish his food. "Thanks for the food Vanilla. It was delicious!" "You're welcome dear. Feel free to go into your and settle in." Rookie got up from his chair and cleaned his dishes. He then went to check out his room. There was a window, a table and next to the cabinet there was his luggage with a note. "You forgot your luggage Rookie." For some reason he didn't recognize the handwriting. He shrugged it off and opened the bag. He started putting his stuff away when he realized something. "! My wispon isn't here! I always bring my wispon, how could I forget it?" He searched the bag again. It wasn't there. He opened the cabinet drawers to see if he left it there. He closed the drawers. "At least everything else is still in there." He laid on the bed and instantly fell asleep.
