When the four of them get back to the Morgenstern household, Ethan and Izabel quickly say their goodbyes to Bree and Chase before loading up Ethan's car and revving out of the drive way.
By now the sun has completely set and the lights of Paris illuminate the sky full of stars. "I think Ryder's back home so I'm gonna say bye to him and eat something and then we can head out?" He extends his arm motioning for her to follow him.
"That sounds good," and then follows his gesture. He keeps a respectful distance from her body, but even with the distance she can feel his warmth creeping into her skin.
Inside the house is dim, but there's music playing in the background. "Ryder!" Chase shouts almost obnoxiously, and then immediately she hears his footsteps rushing down stairs.
Ryder's quick, and his eyes instantly fall on her hazel gaze. "Ha! No way, you're alive!" His voice comes out comical, and his eyes are bloodshot.
Bree smirks and musters a small laugh beneath her breath. "Yes I am!" She matches the humor in his voice.
"We're going back to Shoreline," Chase's voice is much more stern, but there's happiness behind it. He rushes past his brother and instantly makes his way towards the fridge.
Ryder looks at them back and forth. "Girls brave, huh?" And he continues to laugh, at this point she's unsure why he's laughing so hard.
"Bro you're high as fuck," and this time it's Chase's turn to laugh. He pulls out some fried chicken and then tosses his brother a wing, which he instantly devours.
"Fuck it," Ryder just shrugs and takes a seat on the sofa. "The club was absolutely dead because of last night," then he looks at Bree. "Oh, how are you doing with all that?" Then pats down on the seat next to him inviting for her to sit down.
She takes it, as her feet are sore from walking all day. "Alright, it's just all new to me, you know never really went through something like that."
Ryder chuckles again and then takes a sip of his pink drink. "Hang around us long enough and you'll get used to it."
"Dude," and then Chase takes a seat next to her and sets down a whole plate of the fried chicken. His arms brush against hers and he looks at her, "he's high don't listen to him. Shit like that don't usually happen."
Her lips slightly part, "I can imagine more bizarre shit happening if I'm going into a world of super human powers," and she shrugs. "But it's okay, better than being in a world full of marbled white walls."
Ryder gives her a light punch to the shoulder conveying a joke, "there's the spirit. Did he tell you what they can do and what Shoreline's all about."
"Yeah," her voice pipes up and to her surprise it's filled with enthusiasm. "They said you can run really fast and super strong."
"Hell yah," and then quickly Ryder gets up before his body seems to turn into a flash streak and wind from the run blows her hair back. He comes back with a medal in less than two seconds. "When I was a student I got this award of being able to run across all of Europe within minutes."
Her face displays utter shock. The metal is made of pure gold and has a little man printed in the middle, his legs are like a swooshed infinity sign.
"Don't mind him he's always hyper," Chase teases. "He comes to Shoreline often too and helps assist classes and shit like that."
"Yup, so I'll see you around," then his face turns slowly into boredom. "But I'm gonna finish my joint, drive safe I'll catch you guys later," and then he turns back into a streak and blows off wind as he makes his way upstairs.
