Ch. 28- The girls day out

Shadow's Apartment 
        Shadow was resting, for a change, sitting with a leg propped up. G.U.N., had decided that after the last latest calamity, he need to take some days off. The first two days off he had, he cleaned his home, and took a couple of runs. Sally flew down last night, and they have spent the day together. She comes back with a bowl of popcorn and lays a pillow on his lap, for her head. He reaches for the remote and they continue binge watching the show. Every so often they would get a little handsy.

        After spending the day watching, the final gets tired of it and turn it off. Sally snuggled closer to him as he lays his head back closing his eyes. He can smell his shampoo on her, from their steamy shower earlier. He starts to stroke her bare shoulder and down her side, almost like he was petting her. She didn't mind though, in fact she was enjoying it, her body heating up with every touch. *BUZZZ!* *BUZZZ!* Shadow's phone ranged on vibrant, on the small couch table.
         "Yes, what is it?" He answers without seeing who it is. As he answers Sally moves his hand to her breast, and he squeezes it, knowing what she wants. *"Shadow. It's, me."* Rouge the bat, tells him meekly on the other end of the line.  Sally looks up worried hearing Rouge's tone, through the phone. "What happened? Are you alright?" The concerned Hedgehog asked worried. *"Shadow... I really need your help right now."* She pleads in the same meek tone. The dark hedgehog looks over at Sally, who also has a worried look on her face. She gets up and walks to the back of the apartment. Before he could give an answer, he hears Rouge, *"Please, Shadow. This is important... I need you right now..."* He looks up suddenly when Sally squeezes his hand. She had put on her boots and brought their jackets. "We'll be there, as soon as we can, Rouge." He hanged up.
          Rouge sent him the address. "Looks like a 3 hour drive, if the roads are good.?" Sally zipped up her jacket, when he caught her off guard with a kiss. "I'm sorry about this. *smooch* I'll make it up later." She grabs a fist hold of his coat, as she kisses him back. "Don't worry about it. *smack* lets go. *small kiss* Your partner needs you right now." The red head tells him.

2 1/2 hours latter
        When Shadow and Sally arrived, Rouge used a spare key to unlock a apartment house door, but the chain is locked. Shadow moves past her and kicks the door open as they enter. Turning into the living room he sees, Topez and some bum guy on a messy couch. There are drugs covering the table.  Rouge "talks" to Topez, while Sally comes back with a trash bag from the kitchen. Shadow manhandles the bum off the couch. He tries to fight him, but Shadow throws him to the ground then kicks him out the door, literally. "NO! F*K YOU!" Topez curses as she fights Sally for the drugs. Shadow grabs her from behind, getting her off Sally. Rouge then grabs her legs and the two of them pack her to the tub, Topez cursing and kicking the whole time. They finally get her in the tub and Rouge starts hosing her down with cold water, while he held her.

      While Shadow and Sally cleaned up the room, Rouge tucked Topez in bed. The bat walks in holding her arms in her white tank top. "Th-thank you, both." She tells them. 
       "Its alright. I'm glad we could help." The redhead chipmunk tells her, "I-I mean, I'm not glad that we needed to help. NO, that is not what I mean, I just..." She says frantically.
        "I know what you mean, and thank you, Sally." Rouge gives her a meek smile. 
      The dark shadow grumbles into their pep talk. "Rouge, you know you can't keep this covered up. I can not report this because, G.U.N. is not part of the Federation, but you know what judgement call needs to be made." He tells her in his too familiar arura. 
        The bat looks to the side. "I know, but I want to at least try once more..." She looks up, to both of them. "Thanks again. I'm going to stay here and watch her."

        While Shadow and Sally drove back in the dead of night, they continued talking. "I really don't see what your worried about?" Shadow asked her, as he changed lanes. "Rouge, could have called anyone she knew, to help her with Topez."
       "Exactly. She could have called anyone, but she called, You." Sally tells him over the sound of the motorcycle. She wraps her arms around him tighter as they rode. She didn't know when it happened, but she had started falling in love with him. "It's late. Lets just get a motel room for the night?"
