Ch.29- Roug's past

(Yay, sorry it took so long to do this chapter. Started off strong then hit writer's block.)

(Warning!: This chapter does deal with the Child system/ Foster care system)

Westopolis city 

       Rouge helps a elderly women with her groceries, while Omega stopped traffic at the cross walk. "Oh, thank you dear." The old woman thanked them as she continues on her way. Amongst the duties of Team Dark, and other GUN agents, was Patrol Duty. Her and Omega continue walking down towards main street, to meet back up with Shadow. She stretches, "Only 4 more hours until we clock off." The bat says cheerfully. "You, got any plans after work?"
The robot, looks down, at her. "*Other than my normal activities, I am free.*" He holds up a thumb in agreement, with whatever she had plan for them.
        "I was just thinking. It's been a long time since the three of us had time off work together, what if you boys stop by my place and we can watch a show and order out.?" She looks forward and spots the dark hedgehog ordering something from a roadside cart.

        He walks towards them with what looked like a shredded meat sandwich with melted cheese in it. He takes a juice bite as grease rolls out from the wrapper. "You, done with your route?" He asked, after swallowing.
        "No, Shadow don't eat that." Rouge tells him, motioning at the very large sandwich. Shadow takes another bite of his shredded meat sandwich. "We'll, that's something you and Sonic have in common. You both like discussing street food." "I don't see the problem. *smack* It's just a BBQ sandwich." Omega leans down, looking at the sandwich. "*Shadow, my scanner confirms that is not a healthy amount of cholesterol to consume. Let alone that its more than one animal. Including "Shallow River Rat".*" He looks at it. "That explains the wild taste. *takes another bite*"
         "You're still going to eat it?!" The bat exclaimed. "Why not? It's good." The hedgehog says with a mouth full, "Oh, look." *pulls out a piece* "I think that brain." Rouge covers her mouth, "I think I'm going to be sick."
        Shadow smirks as Rouge walks faster. Eating the piece of brain.

        The nerves bat sways back and forth, her eyes looking at her friend... the friend that confessed he had feelings for her MONTHS ago. "~Any plans tonight?" She asks, "Because Omega and I th-"
       "Actually yes. Silver contacted me yesterday, needing some help in our dimension." The taciturn hedgehog tells them as he folds the napkin away after using it. Seeing her disarray movement he stumbled around his words. "But after that, I can come by." The bat immediately smiled.
        "*Now, we just need to finish the remaining hour for today.*" Omega says, in his robotic voice. The team walks down the road when Omega's comm started beeping. "*Shadow. Rouge. Our assistance is needed, by the local authorities.*"
        Shadow rolls his eyes, while Rouge sarcastically says, "Great, just what we need."

      Team Dark dashes to the outskirts of the city. Shadow running dodging traffic, while Omega and Rouge hovered over. The black and red bluer skids to a stop as he approached the SWAT van. "Agent, Shadow, of G.U.N. " A human wearing dark blue SWAT body armor, with three white stripes on his arm approaches him. "Lieutenant Davis, I made the call when I learned he was one of yours." He tells Shadow, in a voice that rolled with years of experience.
       Rouge and Omega are standing next to Shadow now. "One of ours?" Shadow asked. "What exactly happened?" Rouge asked.
       "We are dealing with a Parental kidnapping." Lieutenant Davis takes them to a small command van, with a laptop opened with a human's profile. "Hours ago, the mother call authorities about her son being picked up from school without her knowledge. She believes it was her ex-husband, and since G.U.N.'s security it took us a while to know who we're dealing with."
        Shadow scrolls through the G.U.N. military file. "G.U.N. Solider Mantle. He was a member of Spider Troupe, then transferred to... Rouge, he's C.T.D. (Counter Terrorism Division).
        Rouge rubs her eyebrow, "This just got a lot more difficult." Omega leans into Shadow. "*Shadow my files show that PFC Mantle (Privet First Class), was amongst the Spider Troupe that were with us on Black Commet.* *If we could use that to convince him to surrender it would greatly increase the better outcome.*" Omega suggested.
       "What about the Motel they are in?" Shadow asked. 
        Lieutenant Davis shows him a map of the Motel. "We have snipers in position, and cleared out the surrounding room that would be in crossfire." 
       "Omega, I want you in the room behind theirs's. If this goes south, I need you guard the child." The dark hedgehog explained his plan, that he would try and talk Mantle into peaceful surrendering but if not to have Omega burst through the back wall and stun him, while acting as a shield for the child. Shadow would then take him down.
        They got into their positions.  Shadow grabbed a megaphone and steps out into the parking lot into the line of direct fire, while Rouge gave him directions on what to say. *" Privet! Privet First Class Mantle." Shadow calls out to him. *"I'm Agent Shadow of Team Dark. You served on Spider Troupe when we first meet.*" "This isn't working, Rouge." He tells her in his earpiece.
        *"I'm reading his character report. Talk about his son."*  The bat says. 
        *"Mantle, think about your son. I know you have him with you. You have been in situations like this before, you know the chance of casualties. Do you want your son to be one?"* The teams wait a few minuets, Shadow talks into his earpiece to Omega. "omega, on my signal break through the inner wall behind Mantle and restrain him." He whispers. "*Affirmative*"   The robot radios back.

      As soon as Shadow finished his orders to Omega, the door opened. A spot light was drawn to the entrance and Mantle walked out on his knees with his hands above his head. He was quickly put down into restraints. Rouge and Shadow were there while Shadow put the handcuffs on him, Rouge asked where his son was. Mantle told her he was watching something on his iPad on the couch, also that he had headphones on so he couldn't hear. Rouge went inside. Mantle looks up to Shadow with pleading eyes, "Please you can't let her take him back." Shadow tells him Rouge has experience dealing with children, better than him. However that was not who Mantle was talking about. "Not your partner. My ex-wife. You can't let her take him."
     Two EMT's then walked quickly past Shadow into the motel room with a stretcher. "Please don't let my boy see me like this." Mantle asked. Shadow then help him stand up and leaned him against a car, giving him a warning glare, saying "do not run". The EMT's then bring out Mantle's boy, Shadow was caught off guard when he seen Mantle's son was a Hybrid. Half human, half Mobian. Mantl's son waves at him with a big smile. When he can't see his father, Shadow hands him off to the local authorities. 
        Rouge then walks up to him, clearly troubled by something, her ears slightly lower and she was holding her arms. "What is it Rouge?" He asked. "Its Dennis, Mantle's son. Mantle had a pack of frozen peas taped around his ancle, but... Shadow, I think that little boy is being abused."
