"ENOUGH!" Pt.3
(Age 22)
"Free to raise my daughters far from your constant judgment and craven demands that they should chase wealth and titles above all else!" Lady Mary exclaimed as Mrs. Sheffield chuckled. "You are a fine one to talk. You speak of scorning riches, and yet you come crawling back to snatch at our fortune." She said laughing with her husband. "Lady Danbury is right-" Kate started to say before looking at Daemerys in a pity full look. "Believe me, I want nothing from you." Lady Mary stated firmly. "Oh, you may not, but your daughter certainly does!" Mrs. Sheffield said as the room went quiet.
Daemerys now knew why Kate looked at her. It was an "I'm sorry" look. Kate had been outed, it was like a pin dropped. Nobody knew what to think or even say. But once they did, it was ugly.
"Mama?" Edwina asked looking at Mary. "The trust fund we have set up for her. The condition of which clearly states that she must marry a man of hood English breeding to inherit. You did not think we would allow another generation to pollute the Sheffield, name did you?" Mrs. Sheffield asked. "Didi, what are they talking about?" Edwina asked. "What have you done?" Mary asked angry. "Anthony, did you know about this?" Violet asked. "I shall explain everything." Kate started to say. "I see this one had inherited your penchant for avoiding the truth. Or maybe that's something she inherited from her father." Mrs. Sheffield said looking Kate up and down.
After she said those words it was like Daemerys snapped. The fury she held for these people came bubbling over.
"ENOUGH!" Daemerys said slamming her fist down on the table. "I can only think you've been exiled from good society because of your deficient manners rather than any other sins." She said. "Look around!" She said raising her voice. "It was hard but Kate and Mary got them all here. They did, not you, they. Since the moment you arrived you have failed to show the proper respect for the Sharma family." She said. "And those little comments you didn't think anyone would hear? I heard. And I will not stand for it." She said angry. "I declare-" Mr. Sheffield started to say. "I will not.. stand for it." She said glaring at them. "Lady Mary had down admirably in raising her daughters. They are intelligent, kind, loyal woman. And a credit to both, of their parents. And since you clearly do not wish to jeopardize your social standing by associating with such company I suggest you do not." He said as Edwina smiled at him. "You may leave as once." He said slamming the napkin on the table before standing up. "You can't be serious!" Mrs. Sheffield said. "Please so kindly send for Lord and Lady Sheffields carriage." Anthony said to a servant.
