The Perfect Two

JJ and Spencer stood in the doorstep of the Callahan's house. They were dressed up carrying a store bought salad which they transferred into another container to make it look like they made it. JJ slipped her hand into Spencer's before knocking on the door.

"JJ, Spencer Hi!" Kate greeted as she opened the door. "Come on in."

It was so strange being in their house, it was spacious and homely but Spencer couldn't put his finger on it. "Where can I put this?" He asked gesturing to the salad.

Kate reached forward taking it from his hands. "I'll put this in the kitchen, why don't you go to family room then Chris and I will give you the tour."

Spencer took JJ's hand squeezing it tight. "Oh that hurts Spence." She hissed.

"Sorry, just stay close okay?" JJ looked at her boyfriend weirdly before agreeing to his request.

Once Kate returned Chris appeared not too long after, they began the tour by showing the young couple around the main floor before moving upstairs. "And this will be the nursery." Kate smiled opening the door, inside the room was painted a pale green. The crib, dresser, and change table were all a matching cheery wood colour. The border was a jungle theme with monkeys and tigers. In the corner was a small pyramid of various jungle animals like panthers, elephants, and toucans.

"It's so beautiful Kate!" JJ smile as the happy tears welled in her eyes. "Look at it Spence I'm sure it will be happy here." JJ gave Spencer a sideways hug with her hand rubbing against his chest.

"Are you going to find out the sex of the baby?" Chris asked.

Spencer looked at JJ who shrugged. "Well we never talked about it, but if you want to know I'm sure we can find out for you." JJ replied.

"Um, I feel we need to make something clear." Spencer spoke up for the first time that night. "It's an open adoption. So JJ and I get consistent updates on how our-the baby is doing."

"Of course!" Chris said. "We wouldn't have it any other way."

The two couples sat and had a great dinner together, when it was time to leave they said there goodbyes and headed for the door. As JJ and Spencer walked down the stone path, JJ gripped Spencer's hand stopping his from walking. "Do you think it's a boy or a girl?"

"Girl." He replied. "Definitely a girl."

"Look at this place." JJ cooed. "This will be us one day, having a beautiful home all to ourselves. Little me and you's running around the front lawn playing in the garden and with the golden retriever dog we have."

"It would seem you have it all figured out." Spencer laughed gently pulling JJ down the path.

"I do I guess... But that's years from now, and now that we're engaged it's definitely time to start thinking." Once they reached the car Spencer opened JJ's door to let her get in. "Thank you." She leaned up to plant a soft kiss on his lips before dipping into the car.
