"Joy?"
"No"
"Shelby?"
"No"
"Alexis?"
"Maybe..."
"Elizabeth?"
"Isn't that Emily's moms name?"
"Okay, Jessica?"
"Not loving it."
"Jamie?"
"She doesn't look like a Jamie, Spence."
"Hope?"
"What is she the fruits of the spirit?"
"Fine, Jillian?"
"I'm already naming her after one sister."
"Dylan?"
"That's a boys name."
"Emma?"
"Emma?" JJ repeated looking down at her daughter, her family had gone home for the night. Her mother hadn't set foot in their room and the conversation with the Callahan's was very awkward... After Spencer pointed out their was no legal documents tying the Callahan's rights to the baby , so they hesitantly said goodbye. Baby Reid was learning to breast feed at the moment and was having her 'sucking' phase as the nurses called it, where she wasn't actually eating she was just getting used to the feel of feeding through her mouth not the umbilical cord. "Emma Rosaline Reid? I like that."
"Emma means universe and Rosaline means rose." Spencer said stroking the baby's arm.
JJ giggled a little to herself. "So she's a rose of the universe? Leave it to you to somehow get Doctor Who into my daughters name."
"Jennifer?" A voice came from outside their door, they had been switched from the ER into a private room. "May I come in?" Her mother whispered.
Spencer looked over to JJ who nodded. "Of course Sandy." He called out into the hall.
Sandy Jareau hesitantly walked into the room and stood at the end of the bed. It was surprisingly empty especially after just having a baby, but she remembered what her husband had told her after his visit. About how they weren't planning on keeping her and waiting until Spencer finished school to start a family, but situations change, and they almost lost her... Losing her again wasn't an option. "I-I brought her an outfit from the gift shop... The size was for Premie babies but I think it still might be too big..." Sandy reached into her bag to pull out a pink onesie with the hospitals name on it.
Spencer took the onesie from his mother in law and smile. "Thank you Sandy."
"I hope you don't mind Spencer, but could I please have a moment alone with my daughter?"
"Absolutely! Pen has been calling every two minutes looking for an update on her god daughter so I'll give her a call." He walked out of the room leaving the Jareau Women alone.
Sandy sat on the end on the with her hands in her lap and her eyes averted from her daughters. "Why didn't you tell me?" Sandy asked breaking the silence.
"You slapped Spencer, after the baby was born. I could only imagine what you'd do if I told you while I was pregnant." JJ replied.
"I'm really sorry about that sweetie-"
"Don't apologize to me, you slapped him not me. Spencer did everything right. He wanted to raise her and get married so Emma could have a proper family." JJ snapped. "I was the one who wanted to hide her from you. I was the one who promoted the sex that conceived her, and I was the one who wanted to put her up for adoption."
Sandy took a moment to let all the information drain in. "You named her Emma? That's what your father wanted to name you. But I insisted on Jennifer."
"They're going to come back in a few minutes to take her back into the incubator, do you want to hold her?"
Sandy's eyes lit up and her mouth formed a huge smile as she nodded her head, JJ adjusted her shirt as she handed her daughter over to her mother. "She's so precious."
"And tiny."
Sandy laughed, "fifteen weeks is really early, you were only two. Max was one week late, Gillian was right on time... And Rosaline... Roz was about a month... She definitely gave us a scare..."
JJ smiled sympathetically at her mother. "I don't think I told you her full name, Emma Rosaline Reid."
"She's not taking your name?"
"I'm a Reid now too." JJ replied showing her mother the band on her left ring finger. "We just haven't informed Diana yet."
